I bought the mesh feeders and have tried bananas. They ended up chewing on the wrong end and holding the mesh end in their hands and making a huge mess. They sort of got bored with it kind of quickly. Jack and Lily are 6 mos. old. What other type solids are okay to put in there. I tried pieces of pear but just cut them off of the pear and stuck them in there. I don't mean to be ignorant, but, was I supposed to boil the pear and mash it up or something?

Also, is it too early for teething biscuits? There was another post about this but I did not really see a clear answer.

    thanks!

I used to use peaches. I would stuff them in there so they were sort of mashed together and I found it was easier for them to chomp on them that way.

I'm not too sure what age to try teething biscuits. I forget when I first tried but my girls didn't like them.

I think that if they are able to hold them well and are "chewing" their baby food you could try the teething biscuits, just watch out if they end up getting a big piece. I never did the biscuits so no first hand experience, I have given mine saltine crackers at 8mo tho since they get mushy really fast, haven't had any problems.

Tried the mesh feeders with older DD and she never liked it, always would rather chew on the handle too, but I know other moms have used with much success...

I would put pear (really hard for beginners though), apples, peaches, mango, watermelon, canalope, kiwi, bananas, etc. I tried veggies a few times but they wouldnt eat them in the mesh feeders for some reason. As far as teething biscuits, I tried but they always seemed to choke so I just gave up on those.

I stuck everything in the mesher... You name it, I stuck it in there. I hated the baby biscuits, they made me nervous!!

I put the baby biscuits in the feeders! :D No one choked and they still got to chew on them! I think it's 9 months for them. I'm not 100% sure.

You can put fresh or canned fruits and veggies in the mesh feeders. Bananas are really fibrous and make a big mess. I don't suggest them with the feeders.

my kids loved watermelon in the mesh feeders...that is what i mostly used....also way down the road, you can put ice cubes in it and they will suck on it to help them with teething.

i forget when i gave them a teething biscuit...it was early...when they could grab it...they mostly just sucked on it and drooled it all over. it is messy, but fun to watch them with it. as pp said, make sure they don't get a chunk of it.

My girls made such a mess with those as well. I put watermelon in them but it deffinately is messy stuff. The girls really like apples in there. And often, when they were teething, I put frozen bananas which they really liked. As for the teething biscuits, my one dd liked it and the other one didn't. The only thing I didn't like about them is that they are really great until you get to the last part of it and then my dd which shove the whole piece in her mouth. It gave me a heart attack so I had to sit there with her when she ate it and when she got to the end, I would break it into pieces.

I put pretty much everything in the feeder as well, from fruit to veggies to bread to the gerber fruit puffs. Teething biscuits I never gave unless they were in the feeding. The girls did good with the arrowroot? bread though and didn't get chunks off of that so there wasn't a choking hazard. I've been looking for it for Dax but haven't been able to find it though.
