So here I am, feeling like pounded cr@p, with a nasty cold that my husband shared with me. I think it's an early Christmas present from him lol. He was sick last week, and tried really hard to avoid giving it to me, but bugs will do what bugs will do. He's looked after me so well this whole pregnancy, I think it wore him down a bit, and so he got sick. I cared for him last week when he was ill, and now it's his turn to care for a sick pregnant wife. Between the heartburn that forces me to sleep sitting up, the swollen feet and legs that only get better from lying down, and a cold that has taken my voice and stuffed my head, I'm soooo not into Christmas stuff right now. The pharamist will allow me to have saline nasal spray, and cough drops, but that's it. I'm going to speak to my ob next week about an acid reducer for the heartburn. Gaviscon does nothing after about 5 minutes. *sigh* I love being pregnant, I love being pregnant, I love being pregnant. lol

*hugs* Oh I do hope you are feeling better soon. The last thing any pregnant women needs is a cold, we deal with enough already.

I hope you are feeling better soon! My boss has a sinus infection and walking pneumonia. I told her to go home and stay far away from me!!! I completely understand the swollen ankles and feet. I think I have been sitting at the computer way too much lately. I have been trying to get my finals finished for college. (Finally done, btw!) Just take it easy, ask for peppermint tea and enjoy! My friend swears that putting Vicks on your feet and covering them with socks makes you feel better. I haven't had to try it yet... knock on wood... but it may be worth a try if you are really miserable!

Again... Feel better soon and maybe hubby will feel guilty and get you an extra specail gift this year... something you will be able to really enjoy!!!! LOL!!! :hug99:

:love0028: I had WICKED heartburn during my pregnancy. Here are a few things.... first of all get some cinammon or other NON MINTY gum! Chewing gum will take the heartburn away. I kept it on my nightstand so that while I was waiting for the Zantac or Pepcid to kick in I could have relief. 2nd. I took pepcid and zantac. Should be fine. I don't remember that either were not advisable.

3rd. My OB said if I followed the directions on ALMOST any cold medicine (tylenol cold ROCKED!) that I could use it. If I used more, then that would be an issue!!

4th. what was fourth? OH yeah, the swelling. I don't know where you live, but if you have access to a swimming pool (indoors would be good, because judging from your screen name you live in a cold climate :D ) go and get a kick board or noodle or something and go float in the pool and toodle around for 30-45 min. and you will be in heaven and will have swelling relief for a little while afterwards!

5th - should you start coughing, get the little incontenence pads!! you'll need em!! :hug99:

Chicken soup is a great way to go as well!!! :hug99: Feel better soon. You have time to heal before Christmas!!

I feel your pain snowmom! I have been struggling with the same three issues but this cold is driving me crazy. I have had it for a week and it shows no signs of going away. My OB office told me I could take Tylenol Cold and Robotussin DM, which I have been doing but neither help with the painful coughing. I said to DH, who now has the same cold, if I could take Mucinex this cold would be gone! I feel bad for the babies because I am sure the constant coughing has to be driving them nuts too!

I hope you and DH are feeling better soon. Don't worry about Christmas...just take care of yourselves!

My OB told me that Zantac 75 was safe for pregnancy. If I don't take it in the morning I cough so forcefully that I throw up. He said with the increasing size and pressure it forces the acid back up where as when your not pregnant there isn't that added pressure. I am plagued with reflux anyway, but it got really bad with this pregnancy. Since I started taking the Zantac, I don't cough and haven't thrown up that much. It has been a few weeks. I found out the one day I didn't take it how much it actually helped. If it gets really bad I will take another one before bed, normally I just take one or two Tums before bed. I have not had to sleep sitting up yet. I know what you mean about the swelling. Mine just started last week in my ankles, feet, and hands. It is not fun. I haven't really done much shopping yet, I don't like going out lately. Bah Humbug. Hang in there and try to enjoy the holidays as best you can.

Thanks ladies for the hugs. I went to the pharamcy yesterday and the pharmasist said I could take cough drops like Ricola, and a saline spray for my nose. That's it. I see my ob next week and I'm gonna ask him if there is anything else I can take, and also get a prescription for some good antacid. I'm thinking I may try the pool but I don't have a maternity swimsuit, and I'm not sure if my bikini will fil me anymore. AND there is no place in my town to get a maternity suit.
