Lately I have been having what really seems like menstrual like cramps (not gas) it honestly feels like I could start my period at any minute. It doesn't stop and go like contractions, (no space between the cramps). It's a dull ache for a few minutes maybe up to 20 minutes and then gone and may or may not come back throughout the day. It has been happening for a few weeks now. I have an OB appt tomorrow so figured I'd ask then but also wanted to ask here. Is this normal? Just normal growing pains maybe? Or could these be Braxton Hicks? I've never really had those before.

    Thanks!

Michelle, I'm sorry you are getting those cramps. I'm glad you are going in tomorrow though to ask your doctor. They could be growing pains?? Not sure. I know that I had braxton hicks and they didn't feel like cramps, to me. My belly got rock hard and it was uncomfortable, but not painful. If you get them again today, maybe try drinking ALOT of water and laying down and see if they go away. :good:

Good luck and let us know what your doctor says.

Period like cramps were what real contractions felt like for me. I would definitely mention it to your doctor.

I am another one who would say call your doctor and mention this to him/her
my firend had that crano for 3 days and after she went to the OB they told her that her cervix is shortening and swhe is having irregular contraction so she is on bed rest for now.

I think you should call your Doctor and speak to him. It won't hurt to get it checked.

Thanks ladies! Yeah they always seem to come on when I was sitting on the couch (after just doing something) and when sitting in the van (going home from grocery shopping). They didn't hurt too bad, just really felt like a period was coming.

I do have an appt tomorrow so I don't know if I should just wait or call since it's not that far away. I know my last pregnancy they always said everything was normal right down to the carpal tunnel (never offered splints then) and the pelvic pain and clicking of the bones. I hated the care I got last time, half of the time they wouldn't even help you up off the table! That's another plus to having twins for us...that means we get better care this time which is much more reassuring and an OB vs. family doc.

I agree with the other pp's, always good to chat with the doc about the pain you are having. I have had similar pains several times this pregnancy, and when I was about 22 weeks went to L&D to have it checked out. Totally felt like period cramps. When I got there, they checked me out and nothing was wrong. No contractions, no dilation, just normal pain from my uterus growing so huge!

Call, call, call!!! Menstrual cramping was real contractions for me. I dilated to a 3 with bulging waters at 21 weeks without being aware. All it felt like was menstrual cramps. Not to scare you needlessly, but I would definitely not wait until tomorrow. Call now! Let us know :)

How did the doctor's appointment go?

My PTL felt like cramping. I never felt the start or stop of contractions, just a constant crampy feeling.

Hey ladies! Thanks so much for all the advice and well wishes! Called yesterday and they said that it sounded ok/normal so to wait and come in today. So I went to my doctor's appointment this morning and he wasn't too worried seeing as how my bp is good and my urine is clear. (I had those pains for about 20 minutes on the way to work this morning too, but none so far since.)

His advice is that if I get any cramps or pain etc that don't go away after drinking water and laying down for either 20 minutes or 2 hours (I cannot remember now, crud, this is why DH needs to come with me LOL!) then to come in to labor and delivery to get checked out.

All in all everything looks good from my last ultrasound and my cervix is still about 4 so he said that was good too. We did have to cut the appt short though (and I still had so many topics I wanted to ask about :( ) as he had to literally run down the hall to labor and delivery LOL! I remember being the reason the doc was running not too long ago so I can't be upset at that. ;) So here's to hoping that if I have anymore they will go away with water and rest...now to convince my manager we need a bed in my office! :rotflmbo:
