So, I gave my DS (10 mos) some chopped up melon/watermelon/cantaloupe for the last few days and today he has a rash all over his belly. Not really bad, not that red, but significant in covering his belly and neck. Does anyone know if melon is considered "allergenic" and has anyone else experienced this?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, melon can definitely cause an allergic reaction. My older DS has it to watermelon where he gets mild hives around his mouth (wherever the melon touches). If it caused a rash, you should steer clear for a while and ask your pedi if/when to try it again.

cantaloupe and watermelon are on my ped's "wait till 1 year" list as they are allregenic

also on his list are citrus fruits, pineapple and avocado which i've read several people here give too

he should have had the rash all over his body - or for sure around his mouth - like PP - whereever it touches. My son has severe food/environmental allergies...meat ...nuts..fish...bees..grasses...trees....etc.

Yes, melon is allergenic. I know this because I'm allergic to melons. I'd hold off on them to be safe. It can cause rashes on the mouth, body or bum, rectal bleeding, and/or wheezing.
