Mega bloks and lego duplos questions

I am so excited that the twins are old enough for the real building blocks!! They were and still are my favorite toy!! But I was wondering if the mega bloks and the legos are interchangeable? And if you have the mega blok minis, do the character sets (especially the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse ones) fit the basic mini bloks?

I must have spent 20 minutes in the blocks aisle at toysrus yesterday trying to figure out which set to the get twins. I ended up getting the huge container of the mega bloks but would like to be able to get them some of the character sets and the lego sets too if they all fit together.

 

I'm not 100% certain, but someone told me that legos and megablocks were NOT interchangeable.

 

Partially true, Rhea. You can put the Duplo blocks UNDER the Mega blocks, but obviously not vice versa since the Megas are bigger.

Catie, for your kids at thier ages I think the Mega are better anyways. Just be sure if you get character sets that they say MEGA on them. Mega does make alot of Disney sets...you just have to look for them.

 

Thanks! I thought it would be too easy if they were interchangeable. Oh well, guess we will stick with the mega bloks for now, then move on to the legos later!
