Let's welcome Amy as this week's Meet the Mama. It's time to put her in the spotlight and ask her those questions we've all been wondering about. Here is a little about her:

Growing up, I always wanted a large family. By the time I was in my 20s, into a magazine writing career and living overseas, though, I was pretty ambivalent about having kids. Even when I met Tom (my first year of grad school) and throughout the time we were dating, I told him I wasn't sure I wanted to have kids. He said he did, but was OK with whatever I decided.

Well, I don't know what happened to me, but within weeks of our engagement, baby fever struck me and did not let up! I finished my M.A. in August 2008 so we decided to start trying to conceive in March to make sure I'd be finished with school well before the baby arrived. When I went to see my gyn for the pre-conception visit, he diagnosed me with PCOS (I'd tested negative for it in college but had the symptoms for years) and went ahead and prescribed Clomid for me to use from our very first cycle of ttc.

Our second cycle of trying: Voila! A BFP! It happened in May, in the middle of finals week, right before my parents and sister came to town for my commencement ceremony. Great timing, because we were able to tell them in person, on my mom's birthday. :)

Then at the 12-week appointment, we got an ultrasound and found out we were having twins. DH was really excited right away, but I was just in shock! Sure, I knew Clomid increased your chances, but 8% seemed like a really small chance and I just never pictured myself as a twin mom. LOL. I am getting used to the idea now though. ;) And having people like you all to go through the experience with and to learn from definitely helps!

What food have you been craving with this pregnancy?

What food have you not been able to/wanted to eat with this pregnancy?

    Hey everyone! :)

Amy: I've craved all kinds of different things. Some days it seems like all it takes is for someone to mention a food and suddenly I'm craving it. ;) (Past the first tri, anyway ...) The most consistent cravings have been tomato sauce and Mexican food.
I had a lot of food aversions the first trimester--they seemed to vary from day to day, but I remember hating the smell and taste of coffee, which I normally love.

Kyrstyn: The babies are both boys! We've been bouncing around a bunch of name possibilities but really haven't settled on anything yet. Hope we can come to an agreement soon; it would be nice to start calling them by name! (We won't announce the names till birth though.) We have decided on a nursery theme! We're going with a sailboat/seaside theme. DH grew up on the water in New England (his dad owned a shipyard) and my grandparents lived on Lake Erie, so it's a neat connection for both of our families.

Nicole: I'm feeling OK. Just ... big. ;) I'm measuring about 37 weeks now (8 weeks ahead) and it's hard to imagine getting much bigger than this! No talk of bedrest yet. I'm scheduled to take a big licensure exam the first week of December so hopefully I can make it that far without bedrest!

Yay for Boys!! The nursery theme sounds absolutely adorable!!

Are you going to be a stay at home mom once the boys arrive?

    Do you plan on breastfeeding?

What are you most excited about/scared of when it comes to having two bouncing baby boys?

    Hi, Molly!

Kyrstyn: Our tentative plan is I'll SAH until the boys are about 6-9 months old (depending on how things go) and then work very part-time, maybe 8-12 hrs/week or so. I do plan to breastfeed--really hoping that works out!
Hmm I think I'm most excited about meeting the boys and just getting to know each of them, and watching them grow and develop--as individuals and in their relationships with each other, us, and the rest of the world. :)
Most scared? Two at once! ;) And not really looking forward to potty training ... or junior high, for that matter. ;) Never been too fond of junior high boys so having TWO of them at once should be ... interesting. ;)

That is cool that you are going to be able to stay home with them. The breastfeeding forum on here has some amazing women that can help you through it all!! I hope that it works out for you!
The junior high boy thing totally made me laugh!!

    Hi Amy :wavey:!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I got pregnant on my 2nd round of Clomid as well :good:

What are some of your favorite things/hobbies to do in your free time?
Do you have family that live close by?

Kyrstyn: Thanks for reminding me we have a breastfeeding forum! I will definitely need to check that out!

    Tamara: Hey, Round-2-Clomid Buddy! ;)
To answer your questions, some of my hobbies are hanging out with friends on message boards :), hanging out with friends IRL ;), reading, going for walks, traveling, and playing the guitar.
And sadly, none of our family members live close by; the closest are 600 miles away! :( My younger sister's planning to come here for Christmas and New Year's though, so if they're born before 37 weeks she'll get to meet them.
