[SIZE=12pt]Let's welcome Tamika as this week's Meet the Mama. It's time to put her in the spotlight and ask her those questions we've all been wondering about. Here is a little about her:

Hi! I'm Tamika, Mum to Kaylyn (6.5yrs) Kieran (5yrs) and Treyce (3.5yrs). I'm married to an awesome guy, and we live in Southern Manitoba. We were not planning to have any more children and found out we were expecting in late February. Imagine our surprise to find out there were TWO at our 21week u/s in early May.

Hi Tamika! Congratulations on your twin pregnancy! Do you know what sex the twins are? How are your other children reacting to 2 new babies in the near future?

HI! :) Nope - no names picked out. We tend not to really discuss them til I'm either A) in labor or B) 5 days overdue.....we may have to change that plan of action this time 'round! LMBO I do have a list started tho and DH said he started his last night shift. We will likely start comparing in the next couple weeks.

As for family - we love to go bowling, now that summer's here beach time is great, in the winter we skate, toboggan. Rainy days we play games and LOVE to read books! :) Date night? When we lived in AB we tended to go to music concerts, but our budget is significantly less here in AB. In fact, I don't think we've HAD a date since we moved here a year ago......sad!

Thanks for the congrats! :) No, we don't know what these babes are. We have never found out before and figured we'd keep with tradition. We DO know that are the same gender (mono/di) and I STRONGLY suspect they are boys. The other kids are SUPER excited. They keep talking about what we need for the babies, and they bring me pillows to put behind my back, they love to rub my belly and put their noses to my belly button and say "BABIES! CAN YOU HEAR ME???". The youngest (3.5) as asked a few times about the babies breaking his toys...but so far that is the only concern! LOL

oooh - nope. Noooo morrreee kidss!!!!! LMBO We were actually done with 2 (well, DH was, and I was going to try to convince him for a 3rd after our 2nd was a year old, but I got pg on Alesse while bf'ing). Then we were for sure done with 3, but i guess both of us weren't totally positive - neither of us did anything permanent about it. This pg was with condoms and DEFINITELY a shock!!!!!!!

We drive a Ford Excursion that seats 8 people total, but with 5 car seats its maxed at 7 (back row is a bit narrow for more than 2) so we're totally perfect. There is room in the back for the double stroller (the dog will have to stay home til the babes are out of it! LMBO) and groceries. We pull a horse trailer and a 31ft quad bunk camping trailer with it and I'm VERY glad we bought it as if we'd just had a regular truck we'd have to take two vehicles to go camping!!! One to pull the trailer and one to haul the kids! LOL It IS huge, but its diesel and very good on fuel. difficult to park when all that is available are small spots or parkades......that being said, here in the country those situations are few and far between! :)

In the beginning salty foods - plain pasta with margarine and salt was my staple when i felt nauseated (usually from 4-10pm). Now??? It varies between sweet stuff, salty stuff - nothing specific as a craving tho - totally typical of me pregnant.

Coffee. That is the one thing I LOVE LOVE LOVE and can't seem to have. I just have no desire for it tho, so its not been a hardship. In fact, before we knew I was pregnant I wasn't drinking coffee and my husband thought I was ill.....I was...with the 9mth flu! LMBO

Hi Tamika! Where did you live in Alberta before moving to Manitoba? You say you guys were surprised to find out it was twins at 21 weeks so looking back were there any clues like more severe morning sickness than with your other kiddos or anything like that?

We lived about a half hour east of Edmonton in the Uncas area (Ardrossan).

And yes - we were SHOCKED to find out about the twins. *I* had an inkling looking back that it was twins - no actual symptoms, just a Mummy hunch. But I brushed it off as everyone else said there was nothing to substantiate it. I was not measuring ahead (well, 17.5 at 17wks) but yet for me that is 2-3wks ahead as I've always measured 2-3 behind - even with my 10.5lber. I popped out a belly at 14.5wks - NEVER before has that happened - always into my 20's before I'd even have to think about giving up my fave jeans - everyone said its "4th baby syndrome". I had worse nausea/vomiting with my daughter than I did this pg - this time was a bit more than with my boys, but I never even threw up - it was just evening nausea. I had absolutely NO SYMPTOMS besides gas and the evening nausea. IN fact, I was about 10wks along before we figured out that I was pg as I'd had a very light period in January.

All that being said I was "twin obsessed" and would sit with my computer aft after the kids went to bed and researched just how often people didn't figure out they were carrying twins til the mid-pg u/s. When the tech told me it was twins it was kinda surreal - almost like I already knew it, and yet totally shocked that she was telling me there were two! LMBO

    Hi Tamika!!

What was your reaction when you found out you were having twins?

What are you most excited for with twins/scared of?

Do you have a theme for the nursery picked out?

My reaction? I began to hyperventilate! LOL The tech said to take a breath and be calm. I was more hyperventilating that the dreams I'd had had come true. then I was trying to figure out how to tell my Dh - who only ever wanted 2 kids, that we're were going to have 5. Then when I was driving home I would start to giggle this hysterical giggle - make myself take a few deep breaths and calm down! LOL

I'm most excited to see my kids react with them. They were all so young when the sibs were born that it was just 'life', kwim? Now i'm excited to see how they interact with the babes.

I'm most scared of how I'm going to get enough sleep to keep things going for the older kids. we've NEVER had good sleepers as babies, so i'm very nervous about that. Its not like when i had my 3rd, and the oldest was only 3 - I can't just crawl into bed whenever everyone is quiet. I'll have a Grade 2er and kindergartener that have to be at school......

As for the nursery, if we even have a HOUSE we'll be lucky.. we're having our house built and moved - it was supposed to be done but with delays, we're looking at it not being moved til midJuly - then its a month to hook up to services so we're pushing my 35wk mark for completion. That's just complete - let alone unpacking all the stuff thats' been in storage for a year while we're living in a rental. That being said, i've actually never had a nursery for the babes - we've always had them in our room for about a year and waited to see what they are personality wise before decorating their room.
