[SIZE=14pt]Let's welcome Kristine as this week's Meet the Mama. It's time to put her in the spotlight and ask her those questions we've all been wondering about. Here is a little about her:

i'm 27 and have been married to my highschool sweetheart since 2005 (we've been together 13 years). we started trying to conceive a baby 2 years ago and never had any luck. we had all but given up when it happened and boy was it a SURPRISE! all my life i have always wanted to be a mommy, never anything else so when we found out that i could be pregnant i took 100s of tests to be sure and each time we got a faint positive, it was the most exhilirating thing ever and the scariest. in the past when we would try i would wait two weeks after conceiving and start testing, get a faint line, go to the doctors office for blood work and come up empty handed. i swear i thought i was infertile! then in december of this year, soon after DH's grandmother passed away, we discovered we were pregnant. it was the most exciting thing of our lives but i still didn't believe it...not until we saw them for the first time. i made certain that at our first prenatal appointment we would have an ultrasound and sure enough we did. and wouldn't you know, it was twins! funny thing is that i had suspected it was twins all along, strange especially when you consider that they do not run in our families. DH was shocked and insisted to the sonographer that she must be looking at the wrong belly! LOL. he literally could not speak for a half an hour after we were told. our families were equally shocked. at 12 weeks they checked for down syndrome and said they thought they might be girls but sure enough, these babies had a penis! we found out we were having boys at 18 weeks during our first peri appointment. and it was the single greatest news i could ever hear! the thought of teenage girls scares the crap out of me...lol! so here i sit at 18 weeks with the biggest smile on my face anxiously awaiting the arrivals of my little booger butts! one of them is VERY active and already likes rock and roll (he sprouted the heavy metal devil horns during the ultrasound) and the other is seemingly quiet and sleepy. their names will be river and alexander (middle names aren't decided yet) and they are the single greatest gift i could ever ask for! now this hasn't been an easy pregnancy, no not at all but even at it's worst (and it's gotten pretty bad) seeing those babies makes it all worth while! and having boys just tops it off (MIL thinks i will be one of those mother screaming at the referees at soccer games for bad calls...lol - i can get pretty loud). i do plan on being a stay at home mommy while my husband is saving lives as a fire fighter/emt. we have high hopes for our boys but will be happy if they are happy! :D

ohhh i forgot to mention an important thing. i am expecting mono/di twins and am on a bi-weekly ultrasound check-up schedule until 26 weeks and a monthly growth scan and cervical check.

    Hi Kristine,
What foods have you been craving with this pregnancy?

What foods have you not wanted to/not been able to eat with this pregnancy?

food i have craved....for the first 3 months all i could do or want was mashed potatoes from boston market and chocolate milkshakes from arby's. after that i started craving pickles and breakfast foods, eggs, bacon, pancakes. i also ate home made tacos for dinner for an entire month, nothing else sounded appealing. oh and hamburger mac n cheese has been VERY good to me. :) pretty much the only meat i will go near is beef or hot dogs...yeah i've been loving some hot dogs recently. oh and the pickles HAVE to be claussen nothing else will do!

food that i can't eat or no longer like so far include lasagne, chicken of all varieties, most pastas with the exception of spaghetti, pork, beans, MOST vegetables.

come to think of it the foods i CAN tolerate this pregnant are not very healthy....lol

my husband and a friend of ours is painting a landscape on the walls complete with trees, clouds, hills...i attached some pics so you can see the progress.
    part of the nursery
    the tree in the nursery

as for bedding it will be lots of primary colors, reds, blues, greens, things with animals on them to match the outdoorsy theme on the walls

before i got pregnant i was very much into black and white and landscape photography. i would shoot with a standard 35mm with adjustable lens and get them developed. i have the equipment for developing at home but i just never set it up. i also started getting pretty heavy into suspense/thriller novels by harlan coben (a woman at the airport i suggested i read it and i fell in love). i'm also a researcher.......give me an ailment or something you don't think you can find and i will pull up every bit of data ever created on the subject. and of course the usual, i love to spend time with my husband (when time permits). i am and always will be a daddy's girl but he moved to another state over a year ago, otherwise i would have mentioned the amount of time i would spend with him just store gazing. :D

a lot of the activities my husband likes to do are very outdoorsy. he's a rough and tumble kind of guy...so to speak. he collects guns, likes to go to the shooting range, fish, mountain bike riding and bmx style bike stunt riding. so our interests vary A LOT.

what we do enjoy doing together with both time and money permit is to go on vacations. the last one we went on was to jackson hole, wyomming. we skiid, snowboarded, drove atv's through yellowstone national park, walked the town squares, it was a blast!

in our hearts, both being southern folk, we would prefer to be knee deep in snow at any given time. i'm an a/c kind of girl so the outdoorsy things to do in florida aren't appealing to me and while DH loves the a/c he loves his activities more.

we do enjoy watching movie marathons at the house every now and then. he's a horror film freak so we watch a lot of series, friday the 13ths and jason movies.

and if we had our own pool in the backyard we would be all about that too. we live right near the gulf of mexico but we hate crowds, the no parking issue, and the weird places sand ends up when you come home to take a shower. i guess all of that sun and fun out at the beach looses it's charm to the natives pretty fast!

What has surprised you most about pregnancy?

Do you see yourself having more children after the twins are born?

What have you enjoyed most so far about your pregnancy?

i would love to be able to answer this question with a big fat YES but the answer is no. this pregnancy has been extremely rough. i was very sick (mostly nauseated) during the first trimester and it seems to have carried on through the second. i am always exhaustingly tired and can only walk very short distances without feeling the need to sit or lie down. i'm also constantly out of breath. not to mention the emotional rollercoaster this has been so far. one minute i am a weeping mess the next laughing hysterically. if it wasn't for the fact that i'm pregnant i most certainly would be considered a certifiable nutjob!

    QUOTE
What has surprised you most about pregnancy?

hmmm, i would say the exhaustion for one and the undying love i have for these two babies i have yet to meet. i didn't think i would feel such undying love for them so soon but it really kicked in the moment we found out they were little boys. oh and that has surprised me a lot too. i thought i would be devastated to have boys (all my life i've wanted girls) but when we saw their "boy parts" for the first time i literally could not stop smiling for days!

    QUOTE
Do you see yourself having more children after the twins are born?

no i plan on getting a tubal immediately after the c-section. this pregnancy has been FAR to difficult for me emotionally to risk doing it again. my husband and i both agree that should the urge come where we want more children after these we will adopt....at least then we can pick the gender. :)

What was your reaction when you found out you were having twins? DH's?

as strange as this may sound (especially considering we weren't on IVF and don't have twins in our families) i just knew. when the sonographer said "looks like you've got two babies in there" my literal exact words were "I KNEW IT". don't ask me how, but somewhere in my gut i had already known there would be more than one baby in my belly. DH on the other hand said (and i quote) "are you sure you are looking at the right stomach?". he didn't speak for about a half an hour after seeing the twins.

    QUOTE
Did you have any hunch that you were having boys?

i grew up wanting to have a baby girl sooooooo bad. my brother is 16 years older than i am and had 2 sons by the time i was 8 years old. when i would babysit them my nephews would beat the crap out of me. they were so wild and crazy and made me think that i would NEVER want to have a boy. then when we got pregnant i just knew (again with these gut instincts) that whatever was growing in my tummy would have a penis. right from the start i told my husband "i would be SHOCKED if these turned out to be girls". of course at 12 weeks we got an early prediction that they might be girls so that changed things for a bit but still in the back of my mind i was thinking boys. and when we got proof my gosh i was over the moon! tampons, bras, periods, boyfriends, all of that stuff just REALLY scared me. somehow it's different with boys.

    QUOTE
What are you most excited about/Scared for with Twins?

patience and not having enough. my side of the family seems to have extremely short fuses and i can fly off the handle pretty quickly. i am a type a personality and like things just so and having 2 baby boys is going to really mess with my having to have things orderly. i also am EXTREMELY indpendent and don't respond well to people trying to help me so it's going to be an adjustment, to say the least, to have so many hands helping us out when we first bring the babies home. and of course i'm scared to get peed on....lol

what am i excited for? hearing them laugh for the first time. seeing them smile and giggle. hearing them say "momma" and holding my hand. looking into their eyes and knowing that all of this pain and struggle was worth it because these are MY angels, my two little bundles of joy. i look forward to seeing them crawl, walk, start school, and just grow up. i want to watch them everyday of their lives and just marvel at the miracle of their births!
