At 25 weeks my high risk doctor put me on terbutaline to help stop contractions, 2.5 mg every 4 hours. I do not like to take perscriptions, especially while pregnant but am taking it for the babies. However, this dru is making my head ache and kind of shaky. Anyone else experience this?

Yup, I had the same side effects while on Terb.
It is very common to feel shaky and get headaches :(
I also felt like my heart was beating really fast & thought it was a panic attack, but it was just due to the meds and the extra blood volume.
Be sure to tell your Dr. exactly how your are feeling though :good:

I was very shaky, too. However after my body got used to the medication, which took about 3-5 days, the side effects pretty much went away.

I only had it via shots to stop contractions in the hospital... never as an ongoing med. I had the shakes terribly, it was miserable. Nice to know that if you take it longer term there's the possibility of getting used to it and having the side effects lessen!

I was on it for a while and the shakes went away after a bit. I actually got them again when I stopped taking it.

I took meds for contractions but only had terbutaline the few times I had to go to the hospital. At home I took Niphedipine aka Procardia. Perhaps ask your doctor about those?
I felt exactly like you describe when they gave me the terbutaline at the hospital it was terrible but luckily for me it was short lived.

I was on Terb from 28-36 weeks ... I took the meds every 6 hours religiously ... so I even had to set my alarm to get up and take it. The side effects definitely went away after a few days. So your body will adjust to it! Good luck!
