My girls are 8 months and have tried pretty much every fruit in veggie allowed at this age and love everything. I still haven't tried meat yet because I make my own babyfood and don't know how to go about incorportating the meat. I have a few jars of meat that a friend gave me (stage 2), but to tell you the truth they gross me out. I know they will probably love them and could use the protein, but I just can't do it. They have their bottom teeth and do well with puffs and mum-mums. Any suggestions on how to start meats? They have 3 meals of solids a day and 4 8oz bottles a day. They are JUST starting to get the pincher grasp, too.

i make my own baby food as well & the first time i tried meat i just pureed some chicken with water. ugh. needless to say, that didn't go over very well. since then, i've started pureeing their chicken with a sweet potato or two & some apple - that's a big hit here! i've also done beef (i just bought a cheap roast & cut it up) that i simmered for almost two hours in vegetable stock along with some parsnip, sweet potato, onion, and carrot & then pureed it all together. this one is also a big hit. i got the ideas from Annabel Karmel's books - she has some great puree recipes that can also be adapted for older babies if you want more texture to the food. GL!

I get organic ground chicken or turkey, cook it up, mix it with water and puree it. I freeze all of my purees in cubes, so when I make their dinner, I mix it with whatever veggie I want them to have. I also add rice cereal to it sometimes.

I make my own baby food, but buy my meats in the little jars. I usually incorporate fruit with the meats... both on the spoon together. My kids have always liked it that way. I don't do just meats.

I made my own chicken baby food. I'd cook a few chicken breasts (along with some for us for dinner) and blend it with water and applesauce. The boys really liked it for a few weeks, but like everything else, grew out of it. I still had 5 containers in my freezer and they refused to eat it! Crazy! I like the idea of adding s.p. with the chicken too.

I make all of our baby food, and started meats at 6.5 months per our ped. suggestion. I started with chicken that I boiled with carrots and parsnips, then pureed it. At 7 months I introduced fish - I used sole pureed with sweet potatoes. Since then I have made a stew with beef, and lots of veggies. I pureed that and they loved it. Just recently I cooked a bunch of chicken and pureed it plain and some with a little brown rice - but I left it a tiny bit chunky. Then I just grab a cube of that and mix it in with whatever veggies we are having that day. We have also cooked a little salmon and let them eat that (not pureed). One last thing I made recently was ground beef with diced tomatoes, whole wheat pasta and a bunch of veggies all together. I pureed it but left this a bit chunky too. They have loved everything! GL!
