Hi everyone! I just had my 23 week appt. I'm measuring 37 weeks. From what I've seen everyone else isn't measuring this big. In the past 3 weeks I've gone from looking pg, too looking like I'm gonna deliver. Any reason I should be concerned? I'm on bedrest, and its getting really uncomfortable to move. I'm also have pain from a shifting pubis bone. OUCH!!!

My ob doesn't even measure my belly because she says is has nothing to do with the babies growth (she says it just serves to make you feel huge--and who needs that?!). As long as they look good on the ultrasound, and your fluid levels are in line---that's what matters. So I wouldn't fret the size of your belly--although it does sound pretty uncomfortable!! I'm sorry about your shifting pubis bone. That sounds horrible.

I've heard of people measuring quite far ahead, but this does seem a bit extreme to me. Unless, of course, the doctor measuring you didn't do a very good job of measuring?? Are your twins dichorionic or monochorionic? Did you have an ultrasound at your last visit? If the fluid levels on your ultrasound look normal, I wouldn't worry too much. I would worry, though, if you haven't had an ultrasound in a while and you had a very sudden fundal height growth spurt. If monochorionic, the main concern would be TTTS. I'm not trying to scare you, but am just being honest. Hopefully everything's okay. I do think there is value in measuring fundal height, especially with monochorionic twins. If they're keeping a record of fundal height and it suddenly jumps far ahead, that should be reason enough to do an ultrasound just to check things. That's really the best way of knowing if everything's okay. Again, I'm not sure if your babies share a placenta or not, so sorry for the rambling.

I have only been measured twice in my pregnancy and it was by nurses that didn't realize I don't have to be measured since I am having twins. The last nurse didn't do it correctly and I was measuring on target (which is not true at all, since I am bigger than that). Did your doc say anything about the size difference? That sounds a bit extreme. Like PP said, maybe they didn't do it correctly?

I wouldn't be too worried about it. It could have been just the way the babies were positioned that day. When i went in for my 24 week check up i measured 34 weeks, but I think it is inaccurate. Although I am big, i see myself looking more like 30-32 weeks, if I compare myself to my singletons.

I guess as long as the babies fluid is good and they are measuring about right for their gestation, then I wouldn't be too concerned about the measuring.
