I'm 13 weeks with twin boys and I went to my OB Thursday and she said I was measuring at about 18-20 weeks. She told me to come back in 4 weeks (I'll be 17 weeks) and if I measure 26 weeks or more then I would have to come every 2 weeks from then on. How can I stop from growing? Is bedrest in my near future? I haven't had any complications with this pregnancy so far. This is my 4th pregnancy. If anyone has been through this or has any insight let me know.

Well you don't want to stop growing! Those babies need to keep growing!
It's hard to say yes or no to bedrest...just depends. I am not on bedrest so far....
I have measured 4-8 wks ahead depending on the week and position of the babies.

I'm on bedrest, but it has nothing to do with my size (instead with cervix/contractions). People still can't really tell I'm pregnant and I measured 24 weeks at my 20 week appointment. You don't want to stop growing. You want healthy babies. You may not have to deal with bed rest at all. I hope you don't. Try not to worry about it yet. It's great that your OB wants to watch you closely.

That sounds odd to me. You ARE going to measure ahead because you have 2 in there. My OB told me Fri. that when I hit 20 weeks I will come see him every 2 weeks so he can check my cervix length. That is how they decide to put you on bedrest or not. And even though my OB said he;s had good luck with twins (no besrests) he said everyone is different and you cannot predict it.

I would ask your OB if he is going to check your cervix length each time.

you dont want to stop growing!!! Im 27 weeks tomorrow and at my last appt on weds i was measuring 41 weeks...!!! Its all about the position of the babies and the added fact that we have 2 in our tummys!

That is odd! I can't believe your ob would say that. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I have been consistently measuring 11 weeks ahead. Have you ever had any other problems- like pre term labor or shortening cervix or anything??

With my other 3 kids I went 1-2 weeks early with each of them and I was only in labor for about 6 hours with each. I guess she's concerned that when I go into labor it's going to be quick. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to stop growing, it was just odd to me too. This being my first twin pregnancy, I thought you'd get bigger faster and when she said you don't want to get too big too fast I was a little taken aback like how can you stop from growing. You have no control over that. Thanks to everyone for their insight.
