Maybe now he gets it? Maybe?

I've vented before about my DH's views on being a SAHM. Basically, he thinks I sit around watching TV and eating bon bons and some magical faerie does all of the cleaning, meal prep, and laundry. Oh, and the boys NEVER get into anything.

So, this morning as I'm making their breakfast, DH walks in on a poopy party in the livingroom. They're both covered and he grabs one holding him out like he's toxic waste and shouts that he needs HELP RIGHT NOW! So, I turned off the stove and coyly said, "Help? But I do this by myself all of the time." He says that HE doesn't and HE needs help. So, I put them both in the airplane hold and booked them upstairs to the tub calling down to him to let the dog outside so he won't eat their food... and perhaps he can quit telling me how easy this all is. 15 minutes later I'm back down with clean babies in their second outfits for the day and he had (HUGE surprise) finished making the french toast and picked up the diapers. He didn't say it but I could tell he'd just learned something about what it's really like. I swear, before that moment he thought I either made this stuff up or seriously exaggerated.

I always love it when my DH says 'can I get some help here?' When it is something I have to deal with all the time! His excuse is he is a man, not a woman and that he doesn't know how to do things Moms know how to do. Okay, I'm not asking you to breastfeed, and that is about the only thing a man couldn't do for their children. Anything else, they are capable of. They are clueless sometimes!!

My DH thinks the same... GRRRRRRR!! But he tries to show me up, like it's the easiest thing in the world to take care of our babes and get everything done. Whenever I leave him with them, he dashes all around trying to make it all seem like I exagerate when I tell him I had to take care of cranky babies all day, and that's why the laundry isn't done. He still doesn't get it that every day is not the 2 hours that I have left them alone (maybe 4 times total).

I hear ya! Just last night I was complaining about how I can't get anything done, and DH chimes in that he doesn't know why because when he has them he manages to get stuff done. You could see the steam coming out of my ears!!! I had to walk out of the room (of course mumbling mean things the whole way!!) MEN!!!

You should be greatful. My husband would just tell me I have something to take care of in the other room, and go on with what he was doing. I am a SAHM but would be nice if he could help once in a while.

I hope the lesson sticks. It generally doesn't around here.
