Ok, so I am 35 weeks today and my appointments are now twice a week. Well, this whole pregnancy there has been a question of a third baby. There have been several incidences that made us wonder. I had a 3D ultrasound about three weeks ago and in one of the pictures it looks like there is a third baby. Everyone that has seen the picture thinks the same thing. Then last Thursday at my appointment the lady doing the ultrasound started freaking out because she had already told us that both babies were still head down and then she gets near my right rib and there is another head!!! She showed us three babies like four times and then later said that the "two" at the bottom were the same baby. I had another ultrasound today and again she freaked out because it still looked like 3 babies. I am so confused!!! They haven't said it isn't and they haven't said it is. I guess we will find out when i deliver.
Oh and the two we know are there for sure are measuring around 8lbs already. And they want me to make it to 38 weeks!!!!!!!!!

It's a mystery, huh? How exciting. Two 8 pounders, maybe a third. Are you a bit uncomfortable? Hope all goes well. Can't wait to know what happens.

That is so weird, I would say if you are having triplets there is no way you are going to 38 weeks-especially if two of them are 8lbs each...that is NUTS! I think I would want some answers from the doctor.

Glad you are growing such big and healthy babies!! How crazy not knowing if there are two or three in there. What if there are 3?? It would be nice to know because I'm sure there is a lot of extra planning you need to do with a third. Crazy!! GOOD LUCK...keep us posted!!

omg :faint: that would kill me not knowing; if there are triplets wouldnt it be unsafe to go to 38 wks?

A nurse I work with told me a story about a lady who went back for a c/s for TWINS and was surprised to find TRIPLETS. I don't know how many years ago this was or anything. Did you have a lot of ultrasounds early on? It seems crazy to think they could have missed one!! I can't wait to see what happens!

I agree. Triplets going until 38 weeks with 2 of them being 8lbs each (mine measured lower 6lbs range at 34 weeks and measured 2 weeks ahead) would be extremely rare. I am very very curious what the real outcome is going to be. Either way, I hope they'll be healthy and doing well, you almost made it until 36 weeks. That's great! Hang in there, and good luck!

You would probably make it in the World Guiness Book of Records ...

    Heaviest Total Birth Weight
    24lbs - McDermott (England, November 18 1914). Each baby would've weighed around 8lbs.

There was an unconfirmed report of an Iranian woman who had 2 boys and 1 girl totalling 26lbs 6ozs on March 18 1968.

    Heaviest Individual Triplet
8lbs (approx) - One of the McDermott triplets (England, November 18 1914). The other two McDermott triplets would also be around 8lbs.

There is also the possibility one of the Hulse triplets (total 21lbs) or the Parker triplets (22lbs 8ozs total) could also vie for heaviest individual triplet.

    Quite a nice site ... if somebody's interested: http://www3.telus.net/tyee/multiples/.

I find the whole thing very odd and quite frightening. I would think your OB would immediately refer you to a Peri to get to the bottom of this. I don't know when you start running the risk of needing to get those kids out but I don't think 38wks is reasonable. What do I know though?

I also wouldn't put alot of stock in those weight estimates. It's VERY common for them to be off by POUNDS this late in the game. Plus, if the u/s tech can't determine if there are/are not 3 babies, I'm not sure I'd put alot of stock in her measurements, kwim?

Either way, you've done great getting this far with two or three babies. I would start demanding better answers however.

    Good point!

I would go to a peri ASAP!!
