my girls are supposedly id (still not totally convinced). their teeth are coming in at almost the same times. they hit milestones close to each other. the only thing is marina's saying a lot more words than ivana. in fact, ivana mostly says, "kaka" to things (teehee... i'm really immature). not that i'm comparing (okay, maybe i am), but do id's usually start talking mroe together? or are the two totally not related?

Mine were always about a month apart with milestones. And talking was one of them. S started to say many words and we noticed it was usually a month before N could do it. After they were saying words, it has continued....S learned the alphabet about a month ahead, learned to count about a month ahead...

the thing is that marina's been saying words for a while now (over a month). and i should've added that ivana was actually saying more words a few months back, but it seems as tho she's regressed or something. she will still say "moo" or "quack" or "sss" (snake), but if i say "hair" she'll point to her head and say, "kaka". if i say "socks' she'll point to her socks and say, "kaka" is this normal? basically, she was making more consonant sounds before, and now she's not really so much

    p.s. FWIW, we're a bilingual household

What makes ID's identical are their DNA and some physical characteristics. They are still individuals and will reach milestones at different times and do things differently and have their own personalities. Believe me, having identical twins is a ride that will take you by surprise day after day.

My girls have [so far] hit milestone within weeks of each other, however I do believe that every child is an individual and reaches milestones at different speeds.

It's just a good thing that they've been so similar. It's hard; but I try not; to not compare them at little things like that. Rose rolled back to tummy 2 wks before Alyssa and Alyssa found her hands about a week before Rose found hers. I'm hoping I can get it out of my system before they get old enough to feel bad about it

Maia is doing the same thing, everything is 'dada' ( <_< yes I know its just a sound and not the word since they have never even heard that word but why couldnt it be mama!) or 'deedee' and she used to say so much more!

Mine say the same things, but with most milestones Amelia is first and then Lily sees or hears what Amelia does and then she does it too. Lily rolled first and Lily said "Mama" first but everything else has been Amelia and then Lily does it within a week.

My identicals have not hit any milestones at the same time but one of them had a bunch of medical problems when she was born (other than being premature). The one who has lagged in motor development seems to be better with communication, though.

I have one boy who is better with speech skills than the other. I don't think it has anything to do with being identical, though.

Mine aren't id so I hope you don't mind me chiming in. Mine do things within the same proximaty as the other. They will do things a day or a few weeks apart but they seem to do a lot of it together.

Like with their teeth. DD got hers 2 months before DS but once his came in they started getting the rest of their teeth at the same exact time in the same exact order. DD's are slower to grow in than his but I thought it to be weird that it would be the same exact sequence.

As far as talking they do mimic each other a lot so when one learns a new word so does the other. Months ago, DS talked first and said many more words. DD "caught up" and now they both learn the words together.

    Thanks for letting me share

My girls did do things at the same time and other things pretty far apart. One walked about two months before the other and the one that started walking later was talking much earlier. The did start getting teeth at the same time though.

My ID girls were the same way ... Meredith started saying lots of new sounds and said about 10 "words" (like Ba for ball ... etc ...) before Hannah said anything ... she would say Dah or Dada for almost everything ... after about 2 months ... all the sudden, she just took off with her skills and seemed to learn (and still does) a word every day. Now they are each saying at least 75 words at 16 months ...

He will catch up ... I believe that is just Hannah's perfectionist personality (maybe a bit like Mommy ... wants to be good at something before she starts doing it at all) whereas Meredith is so chill (she probably thinks ... hmmm ... I'll say that word like this and if it sounds stupid ... whatever ...)

My girls did not teethe very much alike and one walked a few weeks before the other ...

They look just alike but had I not had them tested I would sometimes doubt their zygocity b/c they are SOOOO different!
