Matthew Paschal (5 lbs. even, 19 inches long) and John Clark (6 lbs. 11 oz., 18 inches long) arrived at 10:51 and 10:52 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1st after weeks and weeks of my OB promising that there was NO WAY I would make it to my scheduled c-section. The babies were born at 38 weeks, 5 days.

My c-section was great and I had a tubal as well (these babies are #3 and #4 for DH and me). I was not as comfortable during this section - I've had two previous - but I think that was due to the weight of the babies - lying on my back made me feel like they were mushing my lungs. I was fine once they were out - literally night and day in my ability to breathe comfortably.

I had tons of ultrasounds during my pregnancy and everyone was surprised that Baby A weighed significantly less than Baby B - the last weight guess on 8/26 had been 6 lbs. 10 oz. for Baby A and 6 lbs. 12 oz. for Baby B. Matthew, the smaller baby, had a little trouble maintaining his body temperature the first few days and did a few stints under the warmer, but other than that, no issues. Both babies have spent their days in my room - they spend the night in the nursery. We plan to head home Sunday.

Here's a link (hopefully) to pictures of the boys:

I've SO enjoyed the support from this board - what a fabulous resource! Thank you for all the information and encouragement.

Congratulations! I'm glad everyone is doing well! It is kind of odd that they were so close on the weight estimate for one baby, but so far off for the other!

My husband and I have been trying to figure out how the weights could've been so off - my OB had said that he would expect no more than a 6-8 oz. variance, either direction, per baby. So our (uneducated) theory is that of the three variables that were measured to determine/guess weights, only one would've indicated a significant weight difference. The babies' head circumference was and is essentially the same. Baby A, the skinny baby is actually an inch longer than B (19" vs. 18"), so femur length wouldn't have been an indicator. So that leaves abdominal circumference - which I'm sure everyone knows how subjective that measurement seems - the tiniest adjustment of the circle on the screen makes a week or so difference in GA.

Still surprising. We're just thankful that they're both healthy and working on getting Matthew to pork up!
