I've been looking lately at the hot wheels trick tracks and matchbox pop up playsets for the boys (twins just turned 2, big brother is 3 1/2). Links are below. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B001O2S726/ref=ord_cart_shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=A1KX7CQ0PJNJXE&v=glance http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B001NW24TO/ref=ord_cart_shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance They look really fun and the reviews on amazon are good. Curious if anyone has any personal experience. Also thinking of getting Duplo blocks. We have Mega Blocks but I'd like something a bit more detail oriented, especially so older DS can play with it. What's a good Duplo set to start with? Also, is it really worthwhile to get the thematic duplo sets, or should I just stick with basic tubs?
We have two of the Duplo basic tubs and the boys love them! I am asking for some of the Duplo people sets for them for Christmas - they have two little men and love to use them in their play. Literally, they play with their Duplo blocks for at least an hour everyday. I think some of the theme sets are cool, if they appeal to an area your kids are already interested in (animals, trucks, etc.) but the blocks alone are very entertaining. :good:
We just have the orange track from TRU and DS absolutely (and DH) loves it. He loves making ramps and such and putting the track up on the furniture so the cars go faster.
This might not be your thing at all ... but because duplo is so expensive and because it's more fun if you have lots of it, I bought a giant box of the stuff from e-bay and just put it through the dishwasher to make sure it was clean. It worked wonderfully and the girls love playing with it ...
Thanks to my husbands love for Hotwheesls we have hundreds of them and the boys LOVE them! Everytime we go to Target my husband leaves with at least 3-4 new ones. We have only had one track(neither of the ones you listed) and the boys tore it up. It was too old for them and they ended up trashing it. So now they just play with the hotwheels on a mat that looks like a city or all over the house, lol
They have the pop ups and the other Hot wheel items at Kohls right now and they are on sale for a good price. They have the smaller pop ups up to a larger size pop up and the tracks. Hot wheels and Match Box are both on sale. My boys LOVE Mega Blocks so we got them a few of the Fisher Price Trio set. I dont think they are old enough for the little legos yet and these things look pretty cool! Oh I almost forgot TRU has a really cool car carrying case for $15.00 too.
