My babies decided to come early at 33w4d on June 21st. I had an appt on Monday and my cervix was 1-2cm and I wasn't effaced at all so me and my doc really thought I would make it to my scheduled section on July 16th.....well God had something else in mind. I went for my NST on Wednesday...no contractions...everything looked great, but I asked for the steroid shots while I was at the hospital, because I had so many probs w/ contractions early on.....well that must of been mother's intuition, b/c I woke up that night at 4 in the morning having contractions 5 min. apart, but not painful. So at 6am we loaded up w/o a bag....could kick myself for that one, but I really thought they would be sending me right back home like before. By the time I got there they were 3-4 min apart and getting more intense. So the nurse told me I probably wasn't going anywhere. When she checked me I was 3cm and 80% effaced....my doc couldn't believe it, so he came over that afternoon to check me himself and I was 4-5cm and 90% effaced so he said I could try some mag sulfate to try and stop them or he could do the section right then. After explaining to me that my uterus might be starting to over extend which could lead to a hysterectomy and that I would most likely have the babies in the next day anyway I opted for right then. I was scared to death that this was all happening way too early, but I knew that God would take care of us, and he did. It all happened so quick, and within the hour I had my babies Masyn Jerome 4#15oz 17in long, and Isabella June Marie 4# 8oz 17.25in long @ 9:27 and 9:28pm. Me going into labor was truly a Godsend, b/c Isabella had the cord wrapped around her neck, and the doc saw major signs of my uterus starting to over extend....he had to give me four shots of some medicine to stop my bleeding, but all went well and no hysterectomy. Masyn had to have a little oxygen and a respirator w/ room air for one day, and Isabella never had trouble. They are so healthy the NICU nurses could hardly believe how well they did. They came home on the next Thursday....only six days in the NICU!!! I have had them home for a week and it is absolutley one of the most wonderful times in my life along w/ the birth of my older son Aydin who is 3 and a half. Hang in there to all of you and never lose hope!!!
