Do you know what kind of paint was on the crib?? Chances are she didn't eat that much of it so she should be fine but if it makes you feel better you could call your Ped......my son is kicking the wall until he falls asleep at night and when he wakes up in the morning :D He has also started to turn over on his tummy and then gets one of his feet stuck in between the crib slats...not sure what to do about that one! It sure makes him mad! Isn't teething just a fun time all around LOL :p

My DD does this, you can buy plastic rails that go on the crib to prevent it, but they only fit straight, flat cribs, her crib has an 'arch' and there is nothing we can do. As long as it isn't an old crib or painted with lead paint you are probably fine.

She's probably not eating much of it - I'd call the pedi and ask just to be sure.

One of my girls did this and I couldn't get her to stop! Teething rails wouldn't work because it was on a curved/arched piece of her crib. I've ended up tying receiving blankets over the part that she chewed on (going through the slats) to stop her. It doesn't look pretty but it works!

My DD's BOTH did this. Looked like beavers instead of babies were living in their cribs. It was horrible. They are 3 and fine though :) I tried those stick on rails, they peeled them off. Tried the teething rails (the harder plastic ones) they got those off too. I tried everything, nothing worked. I'm SO glad we never bought those crazy expensive cribs!

My older DS did this to his crib, like SMiLeD said rail covers didn't fit his crib either because it was arched, so he ended up eating alot of the stain off. My pedi said not to worry about it since it wasn't an old crib.

I don't know if its bad, but I have two girlies who do it too. Have you checked out those silione rail guards they sell? I've seen them in the one step ahead catalogue.

 I never even thought about this when we bought our cribs. We bought the nice cribs that turn into toddler beds and then full size beds later. I guess my husband might have to plan on one day sanding them down and painting them.

Avery did this and I wasn't sure what to do to stop it. The covers they sell in the stores didn't look like they would be large enough to cover the entire rail since the side rails are very wide. I woke up at 4 am one morning and I suddenly had an idea. I used the crib bumpers which we were no longer using to cover the rails, and now they have a cushiony coordinated rail cover. It worked quite well. Maybe not super-stylish but I think it looks pretty good. I cut pieces to fit length-wise and then added a few extra ties so it wouldn't bulge out in the middle. Here are some pics:
