My doctor told me at our 2 weeks appointment not to take the girls ( not 1 month and 1 Day) to the mall because there are alot of germs and people around and it isn't a good place for newborns!! I am itching to go to the mall with them..hehe.. does anyone have any advice on this subject??? Help.. Thanks

Some doctors are more anal than others... As long as you arent letting people touch them, you should be fine. With all my kids we went out to eat on the way home, to Target for supplies, the mall if we were bored... Everyone was fine! I say GO!!!

I think you have to do what you are comfortable with because you will find people on all sorts of this spectrum. I was anal and I did not take my kids to the mall until they were at least 12 weeks old...but they were preemies and it was RSV season too.

With my full-term DD I waited about 8 weeks. But thats just me :)

My kids stayed home the first month too. The doctor just said "keeping them in, keeps them safe." I went with it.

WOW, I did not even think of wanting to leave at that age, lol!!! I was terified of the whole crying/hungry/fussy thing!! So WTG for being ready :good: I think if you take them and leave them covered and don't let people touch them you should be okay.

I kept my kids out of crowded places for the most part, unless it was absolutely necessary.

We ate at Olive Garden the day they came home!

I waited the 8 weeks as suggested by our pediatrician. We are out in Pennsylvania so I didn't really want to take them out in the cold weather unless absolutely necessary anyways. I figured I would much rather stay home and keep them healthy rather than risk them getting sick. I am just now getting more comfortable in taking them out.

i kept mine in until about 10 weeks, except for dr. appointments and visiting family--but i had help so i could leave them....it was just too hot, highs usually at or over 110, and the dr told me to avoid temperature changes (from hot outside to a/c inside and vice versa)...but i too am VERY anal, and DH is even more so!

good luck, i wish i could be as relaxed as you!

Mine were born at 36 weeks with no issues. The dr. said they should be home until 6 weeks. I made it to 4 and 1/2 ! ;) We took them to the Aquarium for a free family event. They were in their infant seats in the double snap n go. After that trip, then we started going out to eat and to the mall.

Like the pp said, it depends on what you're comfortable with. We live in Florida and it wasn't flu or RSV season, so I thought they would be fine. But they didn't get their first cold until 6 months.

My girls were born at 37.2 and we had them out in about a week. Our pedi gave us no restrictions and honestly, before I came to TS, I never even thought about it being a risk.

Definitely do whatever you feel comfortable with. Like pp said, just don't let people touch them, and make sure you use hand sanitizer often to avoid spreading any germs that might be on handles, etc.
