We took the boys to the mall play area this weekend, and they were complete wild children. I scouted it before and decided to wait until they were very good and stable at walking before taking them....it just looked like they would get trampled by the bigger kids. So we decided to give it a try this weekend, although I was still a bit worried about them holding their own around the other kids.....no such problem!

As soon as they were out of the stroller, they were running to explore everything. It took them one or two tries before completely mastering the center attraction - a big tree that you climb up into and then slide down. Once they figured that out they just kept doing it over and over again. There was a bigger boy who kept climbing up the slide while they were trying to go down, and I was iffy about how they would handle it because they've had such severe stranger anxiety. Well, they just pushed right by him and slid down the slide. They definitely had no problem holding their own!

Congrats... that's a pretty cool accomplishment. Now that they're masters of the play area, perhaps you can order a latte from a nearby coffee shop and lounge while they play?

I don't think we're quite there yet.....Bridger was so excited and played so hard that he actually spit up all over his shirt (he hasn't done that in several months). We had to just walk around with him for awhile to slow him down. After calming him down, I put him back down and said now slow down so that doesn't happen again....yeah right!

But I can at least see in the not tooooo distant future that their play time will actually be relaxing for us.
