Making your own baby food

We are getting ready to introduce solids to the boys soon. I really want to make my own baby food for them. Can anyone recommend any websites or books that would be a good place to start?

If you make your own food, do you make the rice/cereal too? Or do you stick with the organic store bought?

I didn't make my own cereals because I found I had to go to a different store to buy organic rice/oatmeal in bulk and then it was difficult to grind to the right texture. Earth's Best worked well for us. But I also didn't use a ton of cereals and def didn't start with rice, I found it so binding for all my kids. Avacados and bananas are fun foods to start with, especially since you don't need to cook and can just mash with a fork.

I read "The superbaby food" book. didn't love it. I didn't like the way it was layed out and it was almost an overload of info. I just picked up "Mommy Made and Daddy Too" by Martha Kimmel. Haven't gotten into yet.

 

Another vote for wholesomebabyfood.com! LOVE their site! As for the cereal, I just bought Gerber/Beechnut. Have fun with it! I loved making the twins' food!

I agree with wholesomebabyfood.com and Annabel Karmel. I have a couple of Annabel Karmel books, my favourite is the complete baby and toddler meal planner, and also check her website now and again for new ideas.

I never bothered making my own rice/cereal.
