So I finally decided to attempt taking the drop side off of the girls' cribs and letting them have "big girl" beds. They were sooo excited when they saw them! We talked a lot about having a big girl bed and how you had to stay in it, ect. We read their bedtime story in bed instead of on the couch, and tucked them in. That was about 30 minutes ago... I heard them talking for a while but I'm not sure if they are actually in the bed or not. They seem to be quiet now but I'm giving it a little longer before I go in...

Hoping this is really going this well and continues!

Good luck with it!! :yahoo: After about a week of setting down the rules of the "new" bedroom, my girls got it and it was an easy transition. I wish the same for you!!

I hope it's going well!! We're going to transition in a couple months, so you'll have to keep us posted on how it goes!

Sounds like it's going great so far!! I hope it keeps up! Our transition to toddler beds was so easy! For the longest time I kept waiting for it to backfire on me, and now almost a year later it never has. One of the best things I bought was a video monitor so I could watch them remotely to see what they are up to. Good Luck! :woo:

Kyrstyn, I was thinking about a video monitor. Does yours cover the whole room? Or are there two separate cameras? I haven't really looked yet, just considered the idea...

This is the one that I have. It can pan/zoom throughout the entire room, and the night vision is very clear. I love it!! I am pretty sure I am going to leave it up in their room until they are 18!

    Good luck!
My DD did pretty well with the transition, initially she did not realize she could get out of bed and once she did, we had a couple of weeks where she would play during naptime and have difficulty going to sleep at night. Once the novelty wore off and she began to understand the rules of bedtime, she was sleeping in her bed with no problem.

Ditto this! The video monitor has given me so much peace of mind since they went to real beds.

Well... night one wasn't too bad. They both stayed in the beds and fell asleep! Then about 1:30 AM Hailey managed to fall off her bed. (That child twists and turns like crazy sometimes!) When I got in there she was crying and saying "I'm OK, I'm OK" lol. She was OK but didn't want back in her bed. She wound up with me and DH where she managed to take up nearly half of our king-sized bed, lol. I think she'll do fine as long as she doesn't fall again! Hannah had absolutely no problems and slept the entire night in her bed!
