This is what my husband and i are debating right now. Let me start out by saying that at first i thought taking both at the same time would be easier but because I am pregnant (36 weeks currently) and then will also have a newborn that we will have to take everywhere as well. I am beginning to think that taking one one day and then the other the next day would be better. Not to mention our pediatrition left the area and now we have to see a new doctor so im just frazzled but it all. What do you guys do with your twins? Do you have both of them go the same day same time or do they each get their own appointment?

We go same time, same day. And I usually have their sister along with me(19 months apart). Last year they were actually separate because I had concerns for one, so we got him in first. And then his brother was seen later. This year, they are at the same time, and I actually will be babysitting that day, so I'll have four kids. :faint:

It's more of a hassle to have dh go into work late/leave early/find a babysitter for a ten minute appointment than it is to just take all of them.

Not too easy in the beginning, but you do what you have to do! I did tell Dh I'd like him to come along this year-but that's just so he can hear whatever doctor says and ask his own questions, etc.

I always took them both. Which actually meant that I took 5 kids. It was a bit of a zoo, but better to get it all done at once.

I have always taken mine together.
However, if you can swing it to take each separately go for it.

We've done both. If it's a sick situation, then usually just the one will go with a parent. If it's a WC, it varies. For over a year DH had a boss who didn't like him taking time off so I did it all. For the last year or so he's had a nicer boss who let him do flex time so he has every other Friday off so I schedule appointments now on that Friday and sometimes I do same time appointments and sometimes I do separate. They are going to the dentist together next month.

I did not have a choice.. no one to watch the other. Up until age 2, I always had someone else with me. When my last one was born I brought all three!

I prefer to go all at once. I put Emmett in the moby when he was newborn (the baby hawk now that he's older) and then it was pretty easy to keep track of everybody. I keep crayons & slips of scrap paper in an old travel wipes container in my purse & that keeps the girls entertained until it's their turn. My doctor's office is about a half hour drive away so it would annoy the stink out of me to make the trip twice. ;)

ETA: I book two appointment slots so I have time for each child but I book them back to back on the same day.

We have always taken both. Even to sick appointments. Although their doctor office is five minutes from where my husband worked so he was almost always able to meet me there. This year for the 4 year WC I scheduled them for seperate days. My husband is out of state. They go to preschool 3x a week so it was easy to schedule them. And due to their health issues I wanted to be able to have more time with the doctor to discuss each of them seperately. It is always so rushed with both of them.

I am actually going to make a half day of it for each of them. I will pick the one with the appointment up from school early. We will do lunch and a fun activity prior to the appointment. That way each of them will also get one on one time with mommy which is extremely rare.

We go together unless one is sick. Even then, I usually take the non sick one with me since my dh can't get out of work very easily (without using vacation time). I used to have to take my 3 little ones, my daughter was 2.5 when the twins were born. Sometimes I have a babysitter, sometimes I don't have a babysitter I trust (long story).

see and this is what my husband and i were thinking that we don't always discuss the same thing for both girls. Sometimes one is doing something different that we want to discuss. Not only that but usually when one girl gets looked at the other one is getting very fussy they are only 16 months old right now and thats to be expected but i just think it would be less of a hassel to have only one there at a time.

Jess, when I am able I take them separately but my girls see different specialists so it does make it easier to spend more time in their appointment. But when they have the same appointments, we take them together and I almost always have someone to help me.. DH and I have recently started to spend more one on one time with them both, just doing errands.

I do but only because I am alone and taking the 3 of them myself makes me crazy just thinking of it. It's just easier for me.

Other than specialist appts they always go together! I never thought of splitting it up mostly because I don't like going to the drs period

yeah I am lucky that my husband is able to go to every doctors appt. but with me being pregnant and all its hard. I can't really carry either one of them since they are both over 25 pounds already and to top it off i will be having a c section so i really wont be able to carry them after for 8 weeks. I think we kinda decided to have them continue going together until they only go once a year and then once that happens we will schedule two different appts. Thank you everyone again for all your great experiences!!

Our twins have always gone together for all appointments. Much easier that way than making two trips. My husband also goes with me each time so that's a big help. We are going for their 24 month check up next week and since they will be getting shots and are older now I plan to take one twin out of the room so she doesn't see the other one crying and freaks out even more. In the past when they were younger I haven't done that but now they understand a lot more. I don't enjoy taking them to the doctors but prefer doing it all at once rather than on two separate occasions.

No way would I take them separately unless I absolutely had to. Way too much hassle, in my opinion. Esp. now that I literally have like 10 appts. a month just for myself and my husband, I don't want an extra one for kids! The only exception so far has been the dentist, because last year they saw different dentists so can't combine that! Most of their regular checkups etc. are on base and they actually take them both in at the same time in the same room and do everything together. Pretty convenient.
