Now that I finally got in touch with the school system and their psychologist we are finally getting somewhere. Based on the over-the-phone questions, she says Dustin will probably be classified as in the high-functioning/mildly autistic spectrum. She will be out on the 19th of June to start the multi-factor evals. on both of the boys, but based on what they know of Lane they feel he will be in the "typically developing" catagory, which I figured as much. Lane has a position for afternoon preschool in the fall, and we qualify on a sliding scale which is good. Now the fun of getting the official diagnosis for Dustin. They are going to what they can do to get the evaluation done sooner at Childrens Hospital. The psychologist who will be coming out specializes in Autism and has twins herself, and was very understanding and supportive. It is nice to finally have someone who is really listening to me. I have tried to have EI done before but Dustin was having such a good day at the time so he didn't qualify. She recommended that I video what was going on, she said she would like to see some video of everyday interacting and it would be good to have when we go to Children's to the Neuro-Developmental Dept. Thanks everyone for your support. Getting help for your children should not be this difficult, I'm just glad their are still a few people out there willing to listen to what the parents are saying.

I'm glad to hear that you're getting the support you and your sons need. I had video taped Aiden's behaviors for our EI evals and it helped a lot. As I'm sure you know, a kid can do something every day, but when an evaluator comes the behaviour is suddenly gone! lol

I'm going to try to find your old posts. but what has led you to the autism dx? I tend to wonder about Aiden; however, his therapists felt that he didn't have enough symptoms to be concerned. But I still get worried with the stimming, outbursts, and lack of speech.
