    Hi all!

I got together with one of my terrific aunts, and we made baby food all afternoon. She fed her boy (born a micro-preemie, and now a healthy 5 year old) almost exclusively on homemade baby food. It took about three hours, and we have enough food (I'm guessing, maybe I'm being optimistic here) for about a month. For about $14.00.

I'm not quite ready for giving our kids solids yet (BTW, when have you started yours?), but I'm really happy to have a freezer full of food.

Anyways, I wrote a post on our blog with all the details. Say hi if you drop by! ;)

Sounds like not only a productive afternoon, but a fun one. I make a lot of our baby food and the kids love it. I confess though we do you some jarred food as they do not like the meats I make them.

BTW we started solids at 4 months as per our PED!

That's awesome! Your babies will be well fed!

Where did your aunt get those great containers?

That is great!!!! We started solids at 6 months and all that food would have lasted me the entire 6 months to 12 months, lol, mine were not that into solids, more into the "real" food.

So what is all this talk about nitrates in carrots and spinach? Does anyone else worry about that? Yes, where did she get those containers?

Great job, I did that one day by myself, but it wasn't as much fun. I bought 4 oz take-home containers. I got 10 fro $2 at biglots(my favorite store). Also a note, you can find baby food(just check the dates) at biglots of 25 cents each. NOt a great selection but I stock up on what they have especially the meats as someone suggested. The rest I make unless we are going out.

She actually manages a local restaurant, so I think those are take-out containers that she buys in bulk.

    Nice tip about Big Lots!
