I am 30 weeks and 3 days and I am having major lower back pain. It feels like cramping. With my son the only sign of labour I had was my leg felt funny and since they have felt funny this whole pregnancy I can't go by that. My water never broke with him either and I am not sure if I have lost my mucus plug or even how to tell.
Then on top of that my body has been cleaning itself out or so it seems. I am wondering if I should be concerned and go into L&D as my doctor told me if my cervix keeps shortening I could go into labour anytime. Or should I just sleep on it and see how I feel tomorrow?

Hmmm I don't know, but if I were you honestly I'd call my OB and go into L&D as you'd definitely rather be safe than sorry. And if god forbid you are in PTL 12 hours could make a huge difference in when these babies are born. Just my opinion, but this is my first pregnancy so I'd be really on top of any potential sign of labour.

Let us know how it goes!

    Good luck :)

I would definitely call your OB and go to L&D as well, especially if your cervix is already shortneing. Lower back pain can be a sign of labor. Keep us updated.

My Twin B dropped last night too. He usually sits up in my rib cage but I felt him almost plop down and he is no longer there. I know with a singleton you usually have so much time after they drop so is it the same with twins? Both babies are now sitting low. The lower back pain is still there but its more a dull ache now.

I am really hesitant to go in because it is my second pregnancy. Plus if its nothing its an inconvenience to alot of people as I have to arrange for someone to come to my house to make sure my son gets off to school and home and find a way there. I know it sounds retarded but most of my family went from being really supportive to being not so supportive now that I am towards the end of my pregnancy. It makes me not want to ask them as they think a twin pregnancy should be no different then carrying a single baby. Atleast the ones that are close by. Both babies are kicking like crazy right now and seem fine! I think I am going to wait a little longer and see what happens. Thank you guys!

I had the EXACT same thing on thursday, and went to L&D. Not to scare you but I was in PTL, and spent 5 days in the hospital, and now I am on strict bedrest until they are born, we are hoping for 2 weeks. This is also my second pregnancy. I am already dialated to a 1.5 and effaced to 60% as of Sat. Go and get checked just to be safe. Good luck

I think you should go get checked too. I didn't even know that I was having contractions until they saw them on a non stress test, I thought it was just lower back pains from carrying twins.

I had a dull constants lower back pain too a few days before Emilie was born, it was PTL. You don't want to let it go if it is PTL. If it is PTL and your cervix is already short, it could be affecting it more.

I haven't gone in yet or phoned. The back pain is almost pretty much gone but now there are new aches and pain. I am going to call my son's dad and see if he can come over and watch him so I can go in. The only thing is that even if they do put me on strict bed rest there really is no one who is able to watch my son for me in the long term. So it almost seems pointless. I am hoping that my doctor is on call tonight as I only care to talk to him and I really only trust him.
At my last appointment I wasn't dilated. My cervix was still 3.2cm but he was worried that it would start shortening faster and moved up my next appointment to a week earlier then scheduled.

Think about this, if you deliver now, who will take care of everything while you are in the hospital? Who is going to care for everything while you visit the babies in the NICU? My point is, it is way better to get checked and hopefully only spend a few hours in L and D now than days or weeks if it is PTL. It is honestly always better to be safe than sorry in the long run. You should think only about the babies and not about if you are bothering people. They may not understand what you are going through, but that is their issue. I'm not trying to sound harsh, I'm really just trying to get the same point across everyone else is!

Pointless?? The health and wellbeing of the two babies you are carrying is pointless?? It is still extremely early to have your babies, and if they are born now there is a chance that they would suffer from life long complications and to think maybe it could have been avoided by a simple phone call or trip to L&D? If you are in PTL, they can give you meds to help stop it, and give you steroid shots to help the development of the babies lungs. That to me, is not pointless.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but to me it sounds like you are making excuses. There is no reason, that at a minimum you can't call your Dr and explain what is going on. PTL came on severely for me in a matter of 72 hours. I had no definitive "symptoms", I just didn't feel right and I went it, and I am so thankful that I did. I spent 4 weeks on hospital bedrest, and did everything I could to keep my babies in as long as possible and despite my best efforts they were still born at 28 weeks. The NICU is not a fun road. It is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. There is nothing worse that having to watch your children fight for their life. To treat such a serious issue so nonchalantly is incredibly negligent.

I sincerely hope for the sake of your babies that it truly is nothing. Best of Luck to you!

I really wish you would call and see what your OB thinks about all this. :( You are/were obviously concerned enough or else you wouldn't have posted here.  Please call, please. You will figure out the who will take care of your son IF that should have to come, but don't think too far ahead right now, it might be nothing.. but you have to call. :grouphug:

I went in and got checked. My wonderful friend and her husband looked of my son. Its nice to know that i have friends who will watch him when my family won't. Anyways.... both babies are good and it was not PTL. They said it was probably the one baby flipping as he is breech now. The test they did can determine if you will go into labour in the next two weeks so they said unless the internal sets labour into motion in the next day or so I won't be having them in the next 2 weeks. I am happy to know that. Lol! Thank you everyone.
I am not neglecting the children I am carrying. I know its too early to have them and I know the possible long term effects from having them to early but I also just can't neglect the child I have at home already and I need to know that he is taken care of while I am not at home. If I don't have the babies early then I know that my mom will be here to watch my son and therefore I won't be stressed out about him. I don't have a boyfriend or husband to help out if need be and the family that I do have here that promised to help out backed out. The two family members who will help me out don't live anywhere near me. I only have 2 friends who are willing to help me out with my son if need be. I am learning fast who I can and can't depend on.
Thank you everyone I am glad that I listened and went in. Its some of the posts on here that upset me enough to go in. I am going to try and make sure tomorrow that i have someone on call who can take care of my son if need be!

So glad you got it checked and that everything is okay! It's so much better to know for sure than to sit at home worrying about it. :)
