Last weekend we took the girls up north to see their grandma and grandpa (my IL). Saturday they took the girls outside and ended up letting them eat current berries off the bush. That night they got bad diarrhea and it hasn't stopped since. I'm starting to get nervous, their poor little butts are so red and burnt from the acid. I don't know if the diarrhea would still be caused for the current berries or from something else, I would think the berries were out of their system by now. They aren't sick, other then the diarrhea they are perfectly normal. Thankfully they have a doc appt on Monday so they can get looked over. I'm just not sure what I can do until then, Liberty screams every time I have to change her. Last night she woke up in the middle of the night screaming with poop up her back. I also think she may have been getting dehydrated because after I changed her she downed a full sippy of milk and went back to bed. Then when she woke up this morning she downed two more sippies of milk, and this is not normal for either one of my girls. I just feel so helpless right now, not sure what else I can do for them. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Definitely put them on a BRAT diet Trish. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast. I would also give them Pedialyte or Gatorade instead of the milk. :hug99: Hope they feel better soon.

Keep them hydrated. Watered down gatorade works great if they'll drink it! Also feed BANANAS, APPLESAUCE (not apple Juice!) and Rice and Toast and if you get SUPER desperate you could ask about using pectin in some drink or applesauce and it helps to bind it.

I got desperate before M&A's first bday. 13 days of diarrhea and their party was on the 14th day. I gave a bit of pectin in something and it helped!!! I don't know dosages, but I just did a 1/4 tsp. or something. Just a bit at a time to see how it affects them.

Thank you Becky and Diane, I really appreciate your responses. I was thinking about giving them Pedialyte, I'll have to swing into the store. I try to have it on hand but I ran out and haven't replenished it yet. I've never heard of pectin before, I'll have to look into that also. I hope this will help them. Thank you

Trish, definitely ditch the milk products...they seem to feed the runs! My ped said that if they won't drink anything else, give them milk to try and keep them hydrated, but if they will drink other stuff, stop milk until their Poop is solid for 24 hours!

Good luck, I hope they feel better soon!

Also, I've used a little bit of Preparation H on sore swolen booties before, it does help when it's at it's worst!

sorry about the poop from he** - they also sell Deromplast spray in WalMart - it doesn't help heal the rash but it helps with the pain...

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions. I'm pumping them full of bananas, rice, and applesauce mixed with pectin, and toast. I've also started Pedialyte, but I think I'm going to switch to Gatorade. The girls are going through so much of the Pedialyte and its so expensive, I hope they'll drink Gatorade, it'll help the pocket book. :) I think the next time I go to Walmart (its 30 minutes away :( )I'm going to get a couple big containers of Pedialte, instead of buying it at the local grocery store. I also bought some Preparation H, so I hope that will help Liberty's sore butt. Thank you everyone hope all this works.
