Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you know that my girls arrived on March 1st. I delivered at 38 weeks exactly & delivered both of them vaginally! WOOHOO!!

Maggie Lauren arrived at 7:33 PM, 6lbs 7oz & 19.5" long, & Sophie Michelle arrived at 7:56 PM, 6lbs 1oz & 20" long. It took Sophie a little bit to come down b/c the cord was wrapped around her foot LOL. My epidural was fantastic & we got each of them out in about 6 pushes. FANTASTIC! I had a tiny 1cm tear, but not bad at all.

Oh, & I had a question...their placenta looked either fused or shared. OB wasn't sure...they are fraternal though for sure. They also have different blood types. Is that normal??

Thanks ladies! Just wanted to share.

Congrats on your girls! What a great story, I hope mine turns out the way yours did, well thats the plan.....we'll see.

What great baby weights too! WTG!

As far as the placenta goes....mine looks like it could be fused together, or else it is one...the sonographer couldn't tell. But I am sure that was the case with yours. They were probably so close together that they started to fuse, it might have not happened until the second trimester. But you do know that they are fraternal, so you could only assume each had her own.

Anyways, Take care, and post some pictures when you find some time.

Congrats on the arrival of your little girls!! [IMG] If they have different blood types then they are definitely fraternal and definitely would have each had their own placenta. My guess is that the placentas must have fused together.

    Congratulations!

Fusing of the placentas definitely does happen, sounds like that may have happened with your girls due to the different blood types.

Don't forget to take care of yourself Mommy!

Congratulations! [IMG] What a wonderful delivery. [IMG]

As I'm sure others have said, since the babies have different blood types they are definitely fraternal and that means the placenta was fused, not shared. A fused placenta is perfectly normal and common.
