So i finally made it to 31 weeks and finally broke 130 lbs . At my appt before this past one my belly was measuring 32 weeks and i was only 28 weeks ....at this last appt i was 30 weeks and belly still measuring at 32 weeks ....the babies at the last appt with the spec. were 2lbs12oz and 2lbs13oz and that was nearly 3 weeks ago . they are growing great !!! but i dont seem to be growing much anymore ..the dr says he is very suprised that i have made it this far with no problems ...he says due to me being a very small person before pregnancy puts me at a higher risk of not making it to full term . did anyone else have this problem ? If so ..how did things work out for you ? My belly is so tight all the time ...its uncomfortable and fo course i have bad back pain ...since i am so small and my belly isnt measuring much further then it was a month ago does this put me at a higher risk of going early ?

Hi, congrats on making the 31 week mark. I too am now 31 weeks and 3 days! As for your body size and wondering where the babies will fit- they will. I am a smaller person too- I started the pregnancy at 5'4 weighing 112. I drink alot of ensure and power bars and am now weighing in at 165. its not easy to always eat but I know its good for the babies. At my las appt I was 29 weeks measuring 39 weeks and at my last u/s at 31 weeks, my boys were weighing in at 4pd 11 ounces and 4pd 15 ounces. So dont worry-they will grow alot in these last few weeks. When I first found out I was having twins I thought there was no way my body could stretch out to fit two babies- but lo and behold it does. I am hoping to make it till 38 weeks but am now at the pioint of being really uncomfortable and wondering how much bigger I can get....
Good luck to you and drink some ensure. The chocolate ones arent too bad. I make mine into a milkshake :p yum!

    Congrats!
I had never heard that small people had a harder time taking babies to term. I have a very tiny (short, thin) friend and sister-in-law who went past 38 weeks with twins! I think the growth ultrasounds are more important than the length of your belly, mine has only been measuring a couple weeks ahead most of the preg. I wonder it's the pressure on the cervix in a smaller person that can trigger PTL? One of the OBs suggested I get the prenatal cradle for support when I started having contractions, may be something you'd want to consider to keep the pressure off. :)

I'm 5'0" and was 125 pre-pregnancy. I went to 36 wks and 4 days, and weighed a whopping 197 the day they were delivered! But, they were both over 5lbs and no NICU time whatsover, and now, a year later, I've lost all but 10 lbs.

I too drank LOTS of ensure (weight gaining kind) starbucks (the kind you buy in the grocery store) and other high fat, high calorie, high protein foods to put weight on my kiddos. I had to stop ALL low cal, fake sweetner food and go on full fat, full cal and real sugar (no splenda)

My babies fit just fine in my belly! LOL. I measured 52 weeks when I delivered, so the only room they had to grow was 'OUT' but they did grow!

I started the exact same way and so far I have stretched without a problem. It is uncomfortable and a little tight at times but it works. The body is amazing.
    Good luck

I am 5'1 1/2 and weighed 97lbs to start and i finally hit the 130 mark . i am 31 weeks as of today ...when i talked to my dr at my last appt he told me that since the babies are growing so good and were 3 lbs each already that it could cause me to go into labor early ..my stomach is so tight that i feel like im gonna pop at times ...lol...things are starting to get a little bit rough for me the further i get ...hopefully things will work out for me ...i go next week to get another weight check with the spec . im hoping the babies will be around or near 4 lbs ..they were right at 3 each about 3 weeks ago . I think also this will be my last appt . with the spec. they say there is no need to see me anymore because the babies are growing amazingly ...hope the good luck continues

i thought about getting something like that ..my stomach has dropped a great deal in the past few weeks ....and the babies seem to be slowing down to me ....they arent nearly as active as they had been ...at my last appt with the spec . they were both breech ..grr...they keep changing on me ...my dr says i will probablly have to get a c-section wich scares the heck out of me .....just knowing they are cutting on me .......oh man ....
