Ok so to make a long story short... I got my implant taken out Jan 1 this year, then the 21st had a period.. Got a + pregnant test around Vday.. 48 hours later I had a blood test show super duper high hcg levels.. Like in the thousands already.. So they did alot of scans and found two sacs.. They followed me close (esp since i have high risk history) and later only saw 1 baby in one of the sacs- and the other sac seemingly looked faulty & like it wasnt keeping up- however they were also scared i was having a rare ectopic in which one of the twins was in my tube (hence the wonky sac but no baby & very high rising hcg levels) after several scans no masses or babys were found in my tubes & the 2nd sac (twinB) vanished.
Twin A- turned into a singleton pregnancy & has been very healthy measuring on target in ultrasounds to the day with my EDD.
Now im 25weeks and a few days & went into my midwife appt today.. She did a fundal height measurement & found me to be extremely large for what we all know to be a correct due date. My uterus was slightly below my braline & was more of a typical height for a 31+week pregnancy not a 25wk.
We started discussing the twin thing from the begining again & she decided (since i already had an appt with the local high risk clinic to measure my cervix she said she is going to also have them do a full scan to figure out if there is a visable reason for my being so big.) (I had this ultrasound scheduled to measure cervix because of the injections im on and my preterm labor risk)..
She actually measured me twice to be sure she was correct the first time & then she picked up the doppler and actually tried for several minutes to detect more than one heartbeat..
We discussed the possibility of what could be causing my fundal height to be off so much.. She mentioned possible baby position (even though it seemed a bit drasticly off even for that excuse but still said its possible), she mentioned fluid & then of course the twin thing. She said since my last ultrasound was when i was 19wks she said its very rare that a twin would go undetected at that late in the pregnancy but didnt dismiss the possibility totally. More of a lets wait & see what the ultrasound shows.. However since at 19wks- just twin A was visable & even now only 1 heartbeat seems detected she said its prob not twins and told me its prob just a nice healthy baby laying high.
However im very high risk (ive been pregnant alot) and never measured large like this in any of my pregnancies (and ive had alot of ultrasounds), in fact im usually a week behind in ultrasounds.. So I cant help but wonder if twin B actually did make it & has been hiding from us all this time. Should I worry?
What do you think? Whats the more likely senario? That its just a healthy singleton & twin B is still gone?
Has anyone else here measured or know someone who suddenly measured very large or ahead in pregnancy?
Im seriously wishing now the 21st would hurry up. Im not supposed to be on these injections if im indeed having twins..
Has anyone heard of a vanishing twin reappearing?? Twin B's sac was totally gone I believe at around 8 wks.
Just needing some clear thoughts as im totally :headscratch: & losing it now.. :giggle: :headscratch: :giggle: :headscratch: :giggle:

O & If it matters, I do have a past history (not this pregnancy) with taking Fertility Drugs, I am currently on injections & my youngest self weaned in may- so when i conceived I was indeed BF in the begining. O & Ive been looking huge alot- (still possible baby position i guess) and ive been complaining of waaaaaay too strong & much movement all over at the same time already in my ribs for a few weeks.. Like last week I was joking this baby must never sleep as I rarely recall a moment when my belly isnt jerking hard all over the place even keeping me up at night.. (I guess it could be a strong lil babe)

Thanks in advance for any input on this subject..

I was exactly 19wks at my last ultrasound.

Im also feeling kicks extremely high and all over & very strong (nearly painful) like an ich below my braline.

That's interesting. I think they would have and should have seen if you had twins at 19 weeks. We were told at nearly 7 weeks that we had a "vanished twin," but I wouldn't give up and asked them to look again a couple of weeks later - and lo and behold, our vanished twin wasn't vanished anymore. But that was really early on. If I hadn't pushed it, I'm sure we would have learned about it at the 19 week u/s.

I wonder if the cause of your growth is from hydramnios (too much amniotic fluid). How far along did you get in your other pregnancies? It could also be that you just grew bigger than normal given the time. Sometimes fundal height discrepancies aren't necessarily due to any issues, but it's good to be sure. I hope the time passes quickly until you get your next ultrasound.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks, I appreciate you trying to help.. Its weird that i started out with twins (we saw two sacs & my hcg levels were waaaaay through the roof and has stayed that way), then the one vanished (the sac just disappeared) & now im measuring super huge (like more than the given 2 minus or plus they usually say can be normal)

Ill definately keep lurking around here & trying to also research this more myself.. Im confused now LOL.. definately curious. Ill post with any new news I get.. & Will continue to check this post for help & answering questions.

:hug99: ! bless your heart!! I would tend to say that at 19 weeks they probably would have seen a twin, however stranger things have happened!! keep us posted!!!

Sounds like my story! :umm: Seriously though.

We found twins at 8 weeks, one measuring a week behind but they both had heartbeats. At 10 weeks no more Twin B. Just a hint of an empty sac. I don't know if it was because I have twins already or that it started out as twins, but I always felt I still had two growing inside me. I measured big too. I measured so 'big' that I got another ultrasound at 26 weeks (I asked about twins but they only found one) and then another one at about 36 weeks (I think) after I had switched to a different clinic. I just had excess fluid AND my 'singleton' was measuring a week ahead. I continued to have dreams that I gave birth to two babies, but I did not. My big boy was born the day after his official due date.

Yes, there is always a chance that you are still pregnant with twins, but it is highly unlikely. Since you started out with two sacs, they are probably keeping a close eye on you and would still be on the look out for something like that. :hug99: Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. Sorry about your loss.

Tomarrow is the big day.. I found out that my midwife actually found my fundal height at 33 instead of 25 (which I hear they except + or - 2) but to be more than 2 + or - is whats concerning.
Im feeling alot of movement even up around my braline already and im seriously only 25 (tomarrow 26) weeks.
Im a very tiny girl too.. 5.2 & 106lbs when I started and suddenly im now 126lbs when I feel like I hardly eat.
Is it strange to feel like I want to cry? I mean- shouldnt I trust the doctors at this point to figure out whats going on? What if they still dont find the twin & still have no answer for my measuring so big- could that be possible? I mean ugh- I want answers that I feel I can rely on. This not knowing is killing me.
Im also on 17P injections for preterm labor & If im carrying twins ive read im not supposed to be on them. I really strongly feel maybe twinB is in there. I could post a belly pic if you ladies like- not sure if it would mean anything.
I thank you all so much for allowing me to come here for support & answering my questions. Even though I may not entirely belong here- I still appreciate the warm thoughts & answers.
I will update tomarrow after I get done. Its at 1pm EST so I may not post until the evening as I have a feeling ill be there for quite a while.

Just wanted to say that I was on the progesterone shots, for preterm labor, while pregnant with twins. I know lots of other ladies that are/have been on them as well.

Good luck tomorrow and hoping you get some answers.

    Good luck today.
It does sound like you could have excess fluid, that can account for the amount of movement you are feeling as well. During my pgs I measured ahead at some appts and behind at the next, all depends on babies position and who's measuring.
Did you have any u/s between 8 weeks and 19 weeks? I would think it would be hard to miss at 19 weeks but as others have said stranger things have happened.
Oh, and the 17P shots are used with twins as well, many people here are/have been on them.

Good luck and keep us posted!

    Hey Ladies,
Im sorry for not updating you all sooner. Ive been a bit bummed out this week. Turns out Twin B still cant be found even in 4d- so its more likely that TwinB did indeed vanish & is no longer there like we saw in our earlier ultrasounds. Im actually bummed, even though I knew that was probably the more likely scenario. When I first found out it was twins in the begining I was overwhelmed and nearly upset wondering how Id ever handle it. But once we saw TwinB's sac disappear & no TwinB ive felt guilty & sad.
I guess I was kind of hoping TwinB was still there, even though I still think id be worried on how ill handle 2 at a time.
We saw a happy healthy Twin A though with plenty of fluid & meauring about a week large nothing unusual they said- and they arent changing my date. They didnt mention me having too much fluid but did say I definately had plenty.
After doing cervical measurments as well it looks like the 17P injects are doing the trick to keep things calm until time.
I appreciate all the support you ladies have given me. I post on other places, HerForum & DiaperSwappers & CafeMom, in case anyone is also a member at those places and wants to keep in touch- as I dont really belong here now.
I wish you all truely the best!
