    Hello Twinstuff!

My name is Elizabeth, I have been married for the past 7.5 years to my husband, Bryce. We have 2 beautiful children together; Katherine is 6 and Matthew is 3. We're expecting Identical Twins November 30th, but my OB won't let me go past 37 weeks. I will be 16 weeks along tomorrow.

    Just wanted to say hello!

Did you mean mono-di twins?? I don't think momo twins go past 32 weeks.. EVER! In fact, you go to the hospital to stay at around 24 weeks or something like that for heavy monitoring and they count every day after that as a plus.

My sister had momo twins so I just thought I'd ask.

    Welcome and good luck!

    Hi and welcome to Twinstuff,

I hope that you do have your terminology mixed up - the pp is right if you are carrying mono twins you shouldn't be carrying to 37 weeks - max is 32 - 34 with monitoring from 24 weeks in case of problems. There is a support group with heaps of information and women in the same situation at www.monoamniotic.org

Ditto!!!!!!! Please visit monoamniotic.org if this is the case.

Welcome to the site and congrats on your twin pregnancy.

eta: I just saw your post on another post and it looks like you really are momo. Do you have any plans for inpatient monitoring? You definitely do not need to go to 37 weeks, 34 at the most. Sorry, I know this seems forward, but I have not heard of a Dr. going past 34 weeks, and usually not past 32 weeks. I only went to 34 weeks with my mo/mo's because I was on 24-hour monitoring. PM me if you have any questions.

At the risk of repeating myself in the same thread - it's really important that mono's don't go over 34 weeks. I'm not in the states so not totally up on the American health system but you should have been referred to a Peri to manage your pregnancy. Most mono's are admitted for in-patient monitoring from 24 - 28 weeks and we aim for a delivery of between 32 - 34 weeks depending on the level of monitoring you receive.

I hope you are also aware that in no circumstance a vaginal delivery should be attempted - all mono's have to be delivered by c-section to reduce the risk of cord compression during delivery.

This has seen the survival rates for mono pregnancies improve dramatically. www.monoamniotic.org will be able to give you a list of doctors in your area.

If I can help please PM me.

    Thanks

I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to say it. Glad you did. It's very important to get the best medical care. Even with Mono Di

Yes. I'm a bit nervous that your doctor said 37 weeks. I think you need to find a doctor who specializes in momo twins. Perinatologist for sure.

Could you give them a call today and see about inpatient plans etc?? Also ask if they have any peris who specialize in this.

In case you try to go to monoamniotic.org, the home page is having trouble and I am not sure if joining is possible now. However, if you want to try go to : http://www.monoamniotic.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi and you will go straight to the forum. I am anxiously looking forward to your reply to this post. Please don't think we are attacking you. There are Drs that treat mo/mos too casually and we are questioning your Dr, not you. My first OB had no plans to treat my pregnancy any different than di/mo's. I changed Drs and 20 weeks so I could at least get referred to a peri. I was put inpatient at 26 weeks and like I said in my other post was on continuous monitoring.
