Hi...I am hoping someone can alleviate my fears a bit....

I went for a growth scan at my peri's office today.
    Baby A...our little boy...only went from 4lb 14oz to 5lb 4 oz in a two week period.
He dropped to the 13 percentile from about the 50th in two weeks.

Baby B (girl) did better...but still dropped percentiles. She went from 5lb 3oz to 5lb 14 oz.
She went from the 50percentile to the 32 percentile.

I wouldn't have been concerned but the woman doing my sonogram said that in her opinion
his placenta was giving out a bit and she thought "the babies would do better outside now
than inside...", but when the peri came to talk to me, she said there wasn't any need to
    induce me.

I am really worried about Baby A's growth....should I be??
    Thanks for any input!
    Beth

Honestly the U/S can be way off. I was told weight a been before they were born and Elizabeth was almost a pound smaller than that when I had her a week later. Thomas was about half a pound smaller. I have heard near the end it can be WAY OFF!

I wouldnt worry too much. The Peri knows what is going on better than anyone.

yeah i think they can be off too... Beau was weighing 4.9 one week before we had him and he came into the world at 3.8. So take it all with a grain of salt and know that they are healthy because wow you are over 37 weeks. ;)

I know I shouldn't worry so much now that I am 37 weeks, but the health of these babies is constantly on my mind, as I am sure you ladies can relate. For some reason, I came home today from my appointment feeling really down and nervous.
Guess that's normal since the babies could come at any time.

    Thank you for your input!

I think that they might be small, but 13th%tile is still pretty good! My babies were not delivered until they literally fell off the charts to the 0 and 5%itles. Also, gestational age is very important, and since you've done such a great job, they'll come out doing just great, I'm sure! :hug99:

That sounds like my last apt before they admited me to deliver. They thought baby A, my DD was not growing properly compared to baby B, my son.

So I had my C-Section 3 days later, and the ultrasound was off. DD was not as small as they thought and DS was not as big as they thought. There was however a knot in DD's cord, but I dont' think that was affecting her that much. I probably would have carried a few more weeks at least.

While ultrasounds are good to get, they aren't always accurate. And now that you are 37 weeks that is a great place to be. Good luck with the birth!

A friend of mine delivered babies that had the weight estimated by u/s 2 weeks before. Another example that these measurements can be quite off. According to Dr. Luke's book, birth weight is very important. On the other hand, my perinatalogist told me that it's not so much the weight than the gestational age that have an influence on your babies health once out. If she's right, you're in good shape at 37 weeks + :) And even though in terms of percentile they've dropped, over 5lb is pretty good anyway.
