Low progesterone

I just received a call from my OB's office saying that my progesterone levels are low (9 and they would like for them to be around 20). I've had 5 previous pregnancies and never had low progesterone before. We had an u/s yesterday and saw two heartbeats so I'm not overly concerned but I did have a teeny bit of spotting this past Sunday which is something else that has never occurred in any of my previous pregnancies (the spotting is the reason they tested my progesterone levels). They are prescribing me progesterone suppositories to take twice a day until I'm 10 weeks along. Is it normal for someone to have low progesterone in a twin pregnancy? Is this something I should be concerned about?

 

Did you do IVF? I did IVF and had low progesterone levels and they kept me on the shots (which i was taking prior to becoming pregnant as part of my fertility treatment) through 10 weeks as well. Not to scare you but the shots HURT!!!!!

Nope, no IVF.

 

I had low progesterone in one pg. With my twin pg it was high. I would take the progesterone, by I'm curious why they would want you to stop before 12-13 weeks when the placenta takes over production.
I hope your pg goes smoothly over this little bump.

 

I did IVF and my progesteron was very low with shots so they increase it.
but I stay on them until 7w4d and after that it was fine.
