At our 20 week scan, we were told that twin A has normal low fluid level, and twin B has normal level of fluid. Besides the fluid issue, both girls weigh the same with visible bladders and normal organs. The doctor suggested this might be a very early onset of TTTS. DH and I are scared to death....Does anyone know if low fluid definitly means onset of TTTS? Since the scan, I have been drinking a tons of water and 3 Boost HP a day. Bedrest is not possible right now because of my 1 year old. Has anyone experienced with low fluid level and did not end up with TTTS? Please share your experience with us, we appreciate any input. Thanks so much!

I don't have any experience with this but I'm sure it's happened to other woman here who have gone on to have healthy babies. Sounds like you're doing all the right things. Are they going to monitor you with u/s more frequently? We had u/s every 2 weeks once I hit 18 weeks to monitor for TTTS because they were mono/di. I would think you should be getting at least that many u/s. Good luck and keep us posted!

Do you know if they are sharing a placenta or if it is fused?

Low fluid level in one baby is nothing to get nervous about. It's possible that baby hadn't peed in a while and they other just had. Yes, it can be as simple as that! Yes, I know they are not my babies and that is very easy for me to say not to worry but try not to. The first sign would be one baby having way too much and the other baby having way too little. You are doing awesome by staying on top of things but i really would try not to worry. Good luck!

Riley, our baby A, had low fluid at our 27 week u/s & we were also told it might be an early sign of TTTS. but after that initial drop in fluid level, there were no other changes & i delivered two healthy babies at 34w1d. we were very closely monitored though - lots of u/s & NSTs. take a deep breath! i'm sure your LOs will be fine.

    Hi,
We found out at our 28 w/k u/s that Baby A fluid level was normal low and Baby B was normal. I have had weekly u/s and twice a week NSTs since then as they wanted to watch for TTTS. They also gave me steroid shots at 30 weeks bcoz they thought the babies might have to be taken out early. But surprisingly at my recent 32 w/k u/s, both the babies now have normal fluid. This means it can change for the better :). Now they switched me back to once in two weeks u/s as things were looking much better. They had a 26% weight difference too at 28 weeks which has now decreased to 14%.

What i would say is dont stress out about things. It might make things worst for you. Just continue to increase your intake of water and leave the rest on GOD. My Peri says things dont always go in the negative direction. Its good to watch those babies though.

    Good luck.

I'm in a similar situation except Baby B is normal and Baby A has excess fluid. My doctor has me coming in weekly now. He also said I needed to stop working, so I'm in the process of getting all of that paperwork done. Did anyone else's doctor pull them out of work because of the possibility of TTTS?

What I'm hoping is that our babies just have these amounts of fluid and it's normal for them. Nothing has changed in the past 2 weeks, but the doctor is talking about a fluid reduction at some point.
