    Hi,

My son Cole finally begun using a Taggie Blanket to help comfort himself at nap and bedtime and it's been wonderful. He goes to bed fully awake, plays with the blanket for a while and then goes to sleep.

My other son Wyatt has not yet found a comfort tool for sleeping and he's gotten real hard to get down to sleep. He is the one who still loves his binky (pacifier) but he loses it during sleep and sometimes wakes up, not to mention that it doesn't help him go down for that first time. For the last 2-3 weeks, we have to cuddle him to sleep completely to get him down. Prior to this he was fine with being put down drowsy but awake.

Some of this may be developmental -- he is 9.5 months and starting to cruise on everything, but I am eager to help him take this next step to sleep independence!! His brother went through the same thing a few weeks ago and all of a sudden got easy again (thanks to the Taggie). I'd love to find something that will help him get there.

What do your kids use as comfort "loveys" for sleeping? Wyatt loves, loves books -- has anyone used a book as a comfort tool? any other ideas?

    thanks for your thoughts

    Teri D

My guys were given the softest, cuddly blankets with their name embroidered on them. Even if they are in a light sleep when you put them in their cribs they grab it and cuddle with it.

Have you tried putting a bunch of paci's in his crib? I put about 10 in Jake's crib, so he can always find one if he wakes up.

We read to ours before bed, and Alicia likes to grab at the books. At one point we gave her a soft book to hold during story time, and she spent a couple of weeks clutching that when she went to sleep (she has since switched to a blanket).

We have a couple soft books and some that are soft that are photo albums for babies. They love them. Mine do not use pacifiers but they do like blankets a lot and stuffed animals.

Gage has a little blanket that's silky on one side & fluffy soft on the other & sewn ino the middle is a bear head that rattles. he's used that since about 6 months old- he'll pull the silky side over his face when he sleeps. Keira, my "pacifier-girl" hasn't found her one "special" lovey, so her crib usually has quite the assortment of toys, stuffed animals & several different binkys. she does seem quite fond of a rubber ducky tho. she also likes this little soft winnie the pooh "book"/teether.

Mine have a little blanket with a teddybear head in the middle, they just love those things, but they also have a soother.
