I read a lot that people bought thier twins "loveys" for night time. I know what they are, but what's the "official" name? I went in the BRU website and typed in lovey and got no results. I feel stupid asking this question.....

I wonder if you could search soothers or just blankets if you would find something? That is a good question!

We call it a "woobie." But I am pretty sure a search would turn up nothing except a term taken from a very old Michael Keaton movie- Mr. Mom. Oh, I am so dating myself. :D

    Hehe, I love that movie!

To the OP, try blankets or stuffed animals? Our's are little stuffed teddy bears holding little blankets. We got them at Kohls.

I know you can find the blanket with a stuffed animal head on it in the baby section at target. I just bought a super soft one with a giraffe head on it.

I bought "replacement" silkies. They come with the Prince Lionheart Slumber Bear. I never had the bear, but the replacements come in a two pack for $10. Supposedly they "hold" your scent. They come in a two pack, and I bought 2 sets. One for home and one for daycare. They love them!

I wanted them to be different, so they could each have their own, but couldn't find two little blankies with heads that were "the same" but different, that I liked. So I sewed little stuffed animals ( a monkey and a frog) on their at home silkies.

Edited to Add: Both boys are almost as happy with a cloth diaper, if they are napping at grandma's and I forgot the silkies.

If you want to get really technical, they're called "transitional objects." I doubt that would return many hits on a BRU search, though!

Ditto pps - any blanket, stuffed animal, whatever will work. For a while, my DS was madly in love with one particular book!

I think a lovey is whatever you make it. My DS has a blanket with a teddy bear head on it as a lovey, my DD a sheep stuffed toy that has knots for arms and legs that she chews on. I would look under blankets/soothers as well.

Here are some examples, they were in teh 'blanket' category at BRU:

Pefect...exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.

    Holly,!!!

To the OP: its a comfort object like a blanket, small stuffed animal, or for one of my DD's a old bandana that DH used to use as a hanky.

All of mine have a different one - and we have a back-up of each in case it gets lost. We have a stuffed duck, an Elmo, and blanket.
