Louis and Felix have arrived!

Hi everyone,

I hope this works as I am doing it from my phone for the first time. Louis and Felix arrived on Tues, Jan 24th and I am hopelessly in love. We fulfilled our goal of a vaginal birth which, in the end was pretty amazing given that Louis (twin A) was actually posterior (sunny side up) and 8 lbs, 4oz (yes, for real, no typos) and Felix was footling breech and 6 lbs, 9 oz. Labour and delivery, given Louis' position (which they didn't realize until he came out) was rough and we ended up using a vacuum on him and I needed an episiotomy. Louis had some trouble breathing at first and ended up in NICU until 3:00 am on the Thurs. This helped with his breathing and headache from the suction. More on that when I do a detailed birth story but suffice to say I found my inner mama bear pretty quick and was sooooo happy to be reunited as a family. We are still in hospital dealing with feeding and weight issues with Felix but things have been markedly better this aft/evening and we are hoping for discharge tomorrow. My hubby Brad has been so amazing and is proving to be an wonderful Dad. He is dying to have a snooze in a real bed though. So, those are the highlights. Will hope to post pics and share more details soon. Thank you to everyone who answered my questions, provided support and helped ease my twin pregnancy anxieties. I look forward to returning the favour to others in the future and moving on to the 1st year and breast feeding boards!

Congratulations Amy! Wow, your boys were so big, it's so impressive you were able to have a vaginal birth and I like their names. Have fun during the first few days, they go so fast!

I'm given the size of Louis - that was my DS2's exact weight. I cannot imagine pushing him out posterior and still having to push out another. You are a rock star! So glad you and the babies are doing well - congrats!

My third son was sunny-side-up as well and man was that hard! My doctor actually turned him before he was out and that was pretty painful too.
