LOTS of contrax yesterday

I swear, I thought I would end up in L&D and have a baby yesterday. It was NOT a pleasant day. First off, I woke up with a lot more pressure than I have ever felt before. Every time I went from sitting to standing, I immediately had to go pee. It was horrible. Then, DH and I had a date night last night (for our anniversary). Well, from late in the afternoon until I fell asleep around 11:30, I was having at least 4-5 contractions per hour. None got worse or closer together, so I'm assuming just BH, but I was seriously scared I would wake up in the middle of the night in full blown labor and end up at L&D...why would I be scared? I have no idea...heck I'm almost 37 weeks.

So, anyway, these contrax weren't just tightenings. I had a lot of what felt like round ligament pains (at least I think...I've never really had a problem with them) in my groin area on the right side. Sometimes it got really painful. I was ready to call the dr. But, I went home (after dinner and a movie with DH...lol...gotta get that one last night in before the baby comes), drank a HUGE glass of water and then fell asleep and only got up to pee at night and that was it.

I worked on my feet at BRU for an 8-hour shift today and there was NO way I wold've been able to do it had today been like yesterday. Today I just had the normal few contractions through the day (not like yesterday) and nothing was painful.

I'm wondering if the baby is engaging itself? I was just looking up online about what to expect in week 37 of pregnancy...and this is what I found

This week your baby should engage into your pelvis. If this is not your first pregnancy, it may happen later. When your baby engages, his head drops down into your pelvis and you might feel a slight sensation called `lightening` as the pressure on your ribs eases. As your baby drops into the final postion for delivery, you may experience a buzzing feeling and shooting pains in your groin and leg. Normally, you will be able to breathe and eat easier. However, your uterus pushes down harder on your bladder and you will have an increased urge to urinate more frequently. Even if your baby engages now, you still possibly feel his feet in your breastbone around week 40.

I plan on asking my dr. about all this at my apt. on Tuesday.

I don't know what I'm so freaked out about if I would go into labor before my scheduled c-section. Probably the fact that the c-section is planned, so I have things that I need to get done up until that point. I'm not mentally or physically prepared to do a vaginal birth, since I choose c-section (I know this probably sounds dumb), but it was seriously freaking me out yesterday that something could've actually happened early...lol!!!

Ok, that's my vent. So, do all those contrx and those shooting groin pains sound like the baby engaged? I'm anxious for the apt. now on Tuesday to see what's going on

It could be.. But I know that I always experienced more of those sharp pains the last 4 weeks... and more regular contractions. It's just annoying b/c if you are going to do the c/s anyway, then one of the "fringe" benefits SHOULD be that you don't have to experience labor!! LOL!. Wouldn't that be nutty if you "accidentally" wound up with a vaginal birth?? Well, that's fairly unlikely unless somehow you showed up to the hospital at like 9cm and +3 station!! But I have heard of it happening. My ob/gyn told one story where a woman came in and was about that, and she had originally wanted a c/s...she actually refused to push and demanded a c/s. The doc tried to convince her b/c the baby was literally right there, ready to pop out. So instead she sat around for 3 hours after getting an epidural waiting for an OR to open up due to other emergencies going on! Crazy! Anyway, I hope the contractions and discomfort go away for you...it's frustrating to deal with that when you've got the c/s scheduled already.

Sounds like she could be engaging to me. I would be scared to since you have already made the plans for her birth so mentally you arent ready, Then again are we ever?? Goodluck. It would be totally crazy i you did have a vaginal birth!! Let us know how things go!!

Wow, it sounds like things are changing. I know what you mean about having the c/s scheduled and other things planned around it. It's funny how babies have their own plans sometimes! ;)

I hope things continue uneventfully until March 13. Keep us posted on your appt. tomorrow.

I go back and forth on my apt. tomorrow. Part of me wants to go b/c I'm SO excited to see if anything has changed from last week (I was 1 cm) and then the other part of me doesn't want to go b/c I won't know anything and still be in denial! LOL!!! I'm SO ready to have this baby, but I'm NOT ready b/c of stuff I still need to do (mainly work stuff...my temp just started today and I would really like to train her for the position...as much as I hate my job...I need to do something right)...hahaha!

I'm going to talk with my OB tomorrow to see what I do since I"m supposed to be a c-section what happens if I go into labor before that. We never really discussed it. Will update after my apt tomorrow...it's in the evening though and then I'm going to dinner with some friends...so maybe not until Wednesday.
