Lots of BHs -

I did a little too much on Friday - cleaned out our closet, grocery store, and then to a food tasting show. When I got home, I was having lots of Braxton Hicks...like every 5 or 10 minutes for about an hour and a half. They didn't hurt, but I couldn't get them to go away by laying down and drinking water. They finally went away...I woke up the next morning at about 3:45 feeling crampy and having more BHs for another hour and a half. I fell back to sleep and when I woke up, I was still feeling "tight" and having a hard time breathing (which is normal for me since this girl is big!)

I called my doc and he told me to stop chasing kids around, take one 200 mg ibuprofen and go lay down. Which is what I did for most of the day.

Now what do I do? I don't have any help during the week when my husband is gone....should I be nervous? Should I just slow down? How in the world do you do that with 19 month old twins?

Just wondered how you other moms have done it. Did things get more difficult for you towards the end? With the twins I was on bedrest starting at 28 weeks, so it is weird for me to still be moving around and having to do laundry, dishes, cook, clean, change dipes, etc etc....

    Thanks for any advice!

I'm almost 32 weeks and I am pretty sure I've had some BHs too. I'm not positive. A few times I felt what I thought were menstrual cramps, but then I read that BHs don't hurt. I told my doctor about it at my last appointment and she told me the same thing, to slow down. That's impossible right now. In addition to my twins I keep another 2 year old during the week and I'm having horrible insomnia. I have no idea how you are supposed to slow down when you already have young children, other than calling other family members or friends to come over and help. My mom takes the girls for me often, but other than that nothing has changed. :pardon:

I've been having BH too and mine are on the uncomfortable side. They actually can get a little intense where I have to breath through it and change my position so it passes. I've mentioned it my dr. and he didn't say anything about them other than they're normal. I didn't really have many of them w/ the twins and if I did, they sure weren't like these. They come and go throughout the day and than again before I go to bed. Nothing I can count and they only last about 30 secs or so. I'm sure it has to do w/ keeping up w/ the boys and being so busy. I don't really know how to slow down. I, too, don't have any help w/ my boys when my DH is at work so it's all on me. I just try to sit/lay down when I can and keep the fluids coming! Good luck and hopefully this will just be apart of the full-term, non-bedrest pregnancy you can look back on!!!!

I was went "overdue" to 40w5d despite nearly constant BH contractions for pretty much the 3rd trimester (I opted for induction at that point). It was not unusual for me to have BH contactions every 3 minutes or so for up to 7 hours.

I am 37 weeks and have been having braxton hicks for weeks on and off. Nothing that I am really paying attention since they come so reandomly. Mine also seem to come when I get up and walk around the house doing things or if I have to pick up one of the girls (18 months) for longer than about three minutes. I am just drinking tons of ppwerade, since water gives me the worse heartburn, and I sit as much as possible. Luckily for me my girls like playing in their room by themselves so I can put them in their a couple of times during the day for cxlose to an hour and just sit. The best advice is what you already know......take it as easy as you can. Oh and I have also made my husband pick up slot of the house cleaning slack....that helps alot too :)

I had lots of BHs and didn't go into labor until 41 weeks, 1 day. So it's hard to say how much longer it will be. Resting or not resting didn't seem to have an affect on my contractions.

For a few weeks, it won't hurt the twins to get a little more TV time...

And the dust bunnies will still be there after the baby is born if you let things slide a bit...

    Keep that baby cooking!
