    Hi Everyone!
I'm Lindy and I've been on TS since my DD found out she was pregnant with her twins Cameron and Corey back in 2006. They won't be 5 until November, but honestly I've been reading over here for awhile.
My question is when is it normal to start losing baby teeth? Both boys have the same tooth loose. DD was told by an aide at the Pre-K school that they were "way to young" for that and she should be concerned. They have an appt at the dentist in the next month but in the meantime should she be worried?

    Thanks for your input!

My girls had lost about 6 teeth I think by the time they were 5, then lost two more a piece right after that. I was super concerned, even posted on here about it, but the dentist assured me that between 4 and 7 are usually normal years for children to loose teeth. My girls are in the minority, however, because no one I know has kids with as many teeth gone at this age as my girls. And I believe that there are only a few kids in their kindergarten class that has lost just one tooth. Most parents when they see how many teeth the girls have lost usually have the same reaction, "aren't they awful young" or "geesh, my kid is 7 and he/she has only lost one" or some such like that. But my dentist said they were just fine. They aren't even 6 and already have all four of their 6-year-old molars.

LIndy, I know you said that both have the same tooth loose, and the odds that they've both significantly banged that tooth is pretty slim but... have they banged those teeth?

I ask because the dentist told me that my Ellie may loose her front teeth earlier than she would because she knocked them loose last summer. They eventually firmed back up, but now with the slightest provocation, one especially seems to wiggle. Dentist said as long as it wasn't bothering her it was fine and she may just loose it early. But more like likely just within that spectrum of "normal"!

My oldest lost his first tooth at 5y10m. It was loose for at lest 5 months. The twins have had 2 loose each for the past 7 months and one just lost both of them in the past week at 5y4m. Did they get teeth early? My twins got theirs early so I assume that is why they are loosing them early.

Matthew lost his first tooth at 4 years 7 months and has another loose one ready to go. Dentist said it was perfectly normal.

When my oldest DS was 7 and hadn't lost any teeth we consulted the dentist. YEP, as Rachel said 4-7 is completely normal. DS lost a tooth shortly thereafter at about 7 1/2.

I think it just depends on the kids. My oldest DD lost her first tooth shortly after turning 6. Trevor has a loose tooth now, it's just barely loose, but I can feel it wiggle a little, he is 5.5 years old. My twins have a friend who just lost her first tooth at 5y2m. It really just depends.

Thanks so much for your responses. I will pass them all on to Stephanie. We had checked WebMD and Mayo Clinic and they both said it was "normal" for first tooth to come out at 5.5-6 yrs so just wanted to make sure C&C were ok.
Chillers, there is the possibility that their rough housing could have caused it but interestingly, it would probably have been Cameron with the looser tooth of the two of them- he always seems to be the one who gets banged in the mouth by his brother.
    Have a great day Ladies!!

When we brought the girls to the dentist a few months ago he told us that the earlier they get their baby teeth the earlier they will lose them. Were your boys early teethers?

    Normal is 4-7 : with most kiddos between 5 & 6.

That said, one DD loosened her lower teeth at newly 5 and they fell out. Dentist said they would have soon anyhow by xray. Other DD is no where near losing any at her last check up a few weeks ago per xray .

They will be 6 in a few weeks.
