My boys have these super cute blue jean overalls, but the darn leg/crotch snaps don't say snapped! They aren't too small, the snaps just appear loose. My mom said something about hitting them with a hammer to make them fit, but will that make it so I can't unsnap them? I still need them to work so I can change their diapers easily, but hate that they just sit in the drawer because they turn into jean dresses within 30 minutes!

    Any tips?

It depends on the design of the snap but metal ones have little prongs that receive the bump. Those prongs can be squeezed a tiny bit closer together to make the snap fit more tightly. I've successfully made this type of adjustment with needle-nosed pliers. I think your mom meant to smack the bump side so it's a little wider but I'd think that would be more difficult to control.

How about applying Chapstick to the snaps? It would coat the snaps and give them a little extra dimension and thickness. Chapstick and duct tape are my favorite use-anywhere products!

needle-nose pliers get my vote as well.

Just pinch each snap a little bit all the way around. If you get it too tight, just use them to pull it out a bit. . .
