I had forgotten that when I made my appt for the nuchal translucency that I had a follow up set for today. What they have said, although nothing concrete yet, is that baby b looks to have Trisomy 18. They can't say 100% bc the baby was so small when they did the test. From what I am told, most times the babies will pass on their own but we won't know anything further until 10/1 when I have a ultrasound.
So at least I have a little bit of a clue as to what might be going on with the baby, not that it makes it any easier....

Wanted to give all an update...

I am very sorry and I pray they are wrong. My friend had a beautiful baby girl 2 years ago with trisomy 18. It was a very beautiful yet terrible day when she was born and passed. Big hugs and lots of prayers to you.

I just wanted to let you know that you should not freak out yet. A nuchal scan with the combined bloodwork only tells risks and even that is not 100% accurate. I've known many women over the years that have been told they had a very high risk because of the nuchal scan of having downs or trisomy and went on to have a perfectly healthy baby.
    Here's some information for you
The following are screening tests, which CANNOT diagnose Trisomy 18 (click on the link for detailed information about the test):

AFP (also known as triple screen, quad screen, maternal serum screening)

Ultrasound (standard, level II, level III, 3D)

So your next ultrasound will not tell you if your baby has it. The ONLY way you can find out if your baby has it is to have an AMNIO or CVS done.
I hope everything turns out fine for you. Good luck!

Think of you and hope you get some more answers on Weds. Baby B sure seems like a fighter and I hope everything turns out okay. You are in my prayers! Take care of yourself Momma. I am going thru and hard time although not similar to yours. I know how hard it can be to think about positive things and stay strong.

    Thank You all.....!
I just need Wed to get here and then I can deal with the known, it's the unknown that is killing me. I know that the baby will "be" where it is suppossed to be. I just want to know whether that is with me, or not..... :(

    Hi Everyone,

Ok so I went today and Baby B is still going strong!! Measuring behind still, but the doctors are a little more hopeful because now instead of 2+ weeks behind it is about 1 week behind. Because of the inconsistencies with the Nuchal Scan they are suggesting I have an amnio just to be better educated on what/if anything is wrong and how to live with it all.

Has anyone had this (amnio) with their twins and if so, did you have any complications? I am scared but tonight a little more hopeful than I was before.

Baby A is doing great - their heart rate is 137 and Baby B is 153 - I'm told both within normal, Baby B is a little faster bc they are smaller.

They scared me about all this too!! I had an amnio at about 20 weeks and waiting for results is the hardest part, but I have two healthy, happy, running, screaming, whining, laughing 3.5 yr. olds!! I hope it's all just an exercise in making you a nervous wreck and nothing else!!

I had an amnio the day before my scheduled c-section & I was also very nervous about it.
My Dr. (and DH) did a great job of keeping me distracted during the Amnio, though they were only able to do the amnio for 1 of the babies as I had run out of room in my tummy for Baby B, so there was nowhere to go in.
It was a little uncomfortable, but not much more than a pinch. I think I held my breath during it?!
You will do just fine ~~
