doc informed me today that since baby a is breech, he will schedule me at 37 weeks for a c-section.
i've read the entire c-section thread that's on top.

i feel like there's gotta be something else i need to know to prepare myself, lol.

So did they give you a date yet?? Glad you found the c-section thread helpful!

My c-section was a breeze! It was so quick and the recovery went very well. I am sure everything will go just fine!! Good Luck!

i'm 29 weeks now; almost at 30. it looks like it will be the first week of june.
i started my 'hospital bag' but its mostly toiletries. i also bought pads which i haven't bought since junior high, lol. overnight always with wings and cheap granny panties. ;)

just trying to get organized. should i bring laxatives with me to help me 'go' after all the pain meds?

I got a new gown and robe (mom and MIL got them for me). It's nice to have something new and comfortable to wear while you are there. The hospital gowns are NOT comfy. I would definitely bring your own clothes! :) Hope everything goes great for you and your babes!

hmm I will give you completly different answer :)
you can bring your own gown, but I was wearing hospital one for couple of days and only after that I change to mine and it became dirty pretty fast.
the milk was leaking. so all gown was in the breast milk :) the hospital gown you can get the change every day. and I wasn't allow the shower I think until last day ( I was in the hospital days) about panties: they gave me the netting one very light and I LOVE THEM. and wear onlt them. and even after I came home I wash them and use again.

Wow, 29 weeks is a bit early for your doc to say it will be c-section, at my last appointement last week both babies were breech, but my ob says that they can still flip around, the week before that they were both vertex and during the ultrasound one of them went transverse then breech then back to vertex  . Hope all goes well for you though :D

I wore the hospital gown the entire time I was there. Walk as soon as you can but don't push yourself. Take your pain meds on a schedule... not necessarily when you feel you need them. I didn't want a c-section, but had one and it wasn't as bad as I had thought it would be.

I also wore the hospital gown the entire time after having my first child. There was just so much yucky stuff going on down there (blood etc.). I didn't want to stain any of my own clothes. I too am surprised he called a c-section already. My babies were still flip flopping at 36 weeks. :pardon:

so maybe there's still time for baby a to flip?
baby b is transverse. i hope i dont need a vertical incision!!!

 The baby could always flip, it's still early. I had a c/s and it wasn't as bad as I had expected it to be. Definately get up and walk as soon as you can. I think that helped speed up recovery. :good: I did take my own robe with me, but wore the hospital gown. They actually didn't let me wear my own gown.

I wore a hospital gown. You get so nasty anyway with all those after-delivery leakages everywhere.I know I changed my pad constantly in the hospital and everymorning I woke up with blood everywhere. They gave my netted panties too and that was all you were aloud to wear.

i was going to pack some PJ pants; should i not do that?
will i bleed through 'overnight' pads? i bought a package of cheap granny panties too. will those be ok?

I would suggest a gown instead of pants because you will have a huge guaze and possibly staples or stitches right below your belly button. If you have pj pants, you want to make sure they sit right at the belly button and not on the hips or they will be on your incision and they will not be good. Honestly, you will probably be in your hospital gown the first night...I really can't imaging wearing pants, but that's just me. Granny panties are an excellent idea, especially for when you leave the hospital. I doubt you will bleed through the overnight pads, but you will definitely need them. The hospital will supply you with some pads, so you will probably just use those until you leave. But you will definitely need the ovenighters!

thank you. it was my mom who suggested PJ pants. everyone says i'll still be the same size as when i went in so to be prepared. i dont understand how after delivering these two babies, in their own separate sacs no-less, will leave me being the same size as when i went in!

You won't be the same size, but you will still have a pretty good size belly, so definitely have your maternity pants with you. It will take some time to lose your belly...kind of disheartening, but so true. The main key is comfort while your in the hospital, nothing tight.

I hate wearing the hospital gowns so I've always worn my own stuff after the first day. For the twins I bought some inexpensive night gowns from Kohls that button down the front. They're knee length and have easy access for nursing. I also bring my maternity undies rather than wear the gauze undies the hospitla supplies. For me there is something so nice about getting up that second morning, taking a shower, and putting on real clothes.

Both hospitals I delivered at supplied pads during the stay and I didn't need my own until I got home. Oh and add me to the list of people who came out the same size. In fact, when I had my first I swelled up and left bigger than I went in.

someone suggested nightgowns. i just know i would be more comfortable in sweats and a tank. ;)
i want to be as prepared as possible. i have an amazing DH and know he'll be there to help but i still want to be prepared with everything i need.

I would say put one in your bag but don't put more just leave soem might at home so if you really need them your DH will bring it to you.
but again. you wouldn't care too much after c-section. I agree with all previous post saying that all clothes will be dirty and I wasn't bleeding much ( mean vaginally) but still might be bled more then overnight pad. I would suggest to use the hospital pad it is huge but good . At home I bought the huge pad too my friend told me that she bled TOO MUCH. but for me it was easy at home I had regular overnight pad and it was fine. after c-section you will be more concern how to get up without pain and walk... then what you are wearing....

P.S. forget to write just thing. if you are wearing the night gown and going to the toilet you just need to pull it up. ( it is easy) but with pant you need to BEND to pull it up. I had couple crying episod in the restroom in the middle of the night because I miss my pain kiler med and didnt' realize that I was in pain. because of that. I was shaking and cold and pain was everywear. .... and now on top of that try to bend to pull up your PJ pants.... hard.... just think about it.

i just figured that I wouldn't want to walk around in a gown/robe, thats all.

21. i brought my own gown and didn't even look at it once. my milk was also leaking and things in general were just messy! as far as pants, i couldn't even bend over that well to put the underwear around my ankle, let alone put on pants!!! ;) the nurse at the hospital told me to try to get around as much as i could & to draw my shoulders back and stand up straight. so that's what i did. but by the time i left, 3 days later, i was slow, but i was pretty much recovered. unfortunately my twins had to be taken to a nicu at another hospital and i was walking from the parking garage and through the hospital by friday (the were born on sunday).

I felt awkward walking around in my robe after my c-section. I had to go down the hall to get my baby from the nursery. So after a few days I put on some comfy pants and a t-shirt. I'm going to do that again this time. I'm going to skip the robe. It felt so much more normal to wear regular clothes.

Good luck! Same boat here. I'm scheduled for a C-section on Monday (4/13). I'll be 37 weeks 6 days. I had both of my girls vaginally....so I'm very nervous about the C-section. I've read through the C-section thread too....but I still wonder if there is more I should know! ;)

Best of luck! ;)

Just wanted to give you a little bit of hope... my baby A was breech until last week and they told me the same thing about csection. In fact I am still scheduled for one on the 23rd. But yesterday they did a quick u/s bedside and the little stinker had turned head down and we are making progress. It can still happen for you. Make sure they u/s you before they do the surgery!! Good luck!

Mine was not a scheudled c-section so it was a little nerve wrecking, but I can say it was very fast, and painless. It helped that my doc was very funny when I was laying there after he started I asked him what he was doing and he informed me that he was getting my boys out, he asked me what I was The doing and I said I guess i'm having my boys.

baby b is transverse. i hope i dont need a vertical incision!!!

I've had 5 c/s and two of them were with transverse babies but I've had the regular horizontal bikini incision with all of them so don't worry about having to have a vertical incision just because baby is transverse.

I've always worn the hospital gown the first day and then changed into either regular clothes (like yoga pants and a t-shirt) or pajama pants with a top the rest of the time. I prefer being able to pull my shirt up to nurse rather than unbuttoning a gown so that's just my own personal preference. As long as the pants sit at your belly button it shouldn't bother your incision (or at least it never has with me).

I've never had a c-section so I wish you all the luck in the world! I "think" that if I have a c/s this time I'd want to wear a gown b/c it'd be more comfy w stitches and stuff but like I said I don't know!!

Good luck and I hope you get a surprise and baby a turns :)

Thats very interesting that he is already jumping to c section. Baby A ( emma) was breech for me up until about a week ago ( im now 34 weeks) and Baby B (Benny) was transverse until just a few days ago. Now both of them are Vertex (head down) and I almost cried when the ultrasound tech told me Emma was head down. Don't give up hope! How often will you be having ultrasounds from here on out? I think we might have one more around 36 weeks, but my OB is wonderful and I asked that if I do go into labour on my own, that we have a quick U/S done just to be sure that they are in the right position for a vaginal delivery. It can't hurt to ask, remember, they are the doctor, but you are the mom, and its your body. If you were as crushed as I was when my doc first mentioned the possibility it wont hurt to be sure that thats your only option!

hey hun, im scheduled for a c-section may 7th as my twins are transversal and haven't moved since 28 weeks out of that position. I am almost 34 weeks, so I will have the section at 37.5 weeks... I'm extremly nervous myself!!
