Long night of BH contrax

Whew last night was rough. I always get a lot of BH contrax in the evening while watching TV. They are pretty strong, so much that I really notice them and have to breathe through them. I asked my OB and he said 4 an hour, for 2 hours in a row and I should call. I always get right about to that point but not over. And I stress because it's so late and the kids are already in bed and it's probably nothing and do I want to spend several hours at L&D? Plus my cervix has measured 3.5-4 cm.

But last night they started as usual around 8Pm. So I did my usual routine, lots of water, empty my bladder, lay on my side. That usually slows them down. For 2 hours they continued but not more than 2-3 an hour. At 10pm I started writing down the times. In 2 hours I'd had 7. About every 15-25 mins or so. So still not over the 4 an hour threshold. I took a bath because that usually calms them. Nope had one in the bath, another reading in bed. WTF???? I kinda lost track of them because I'd left my notepad in the TV room. But they were still about 15-20 mins apart. I stayed up til 2 am tracking a couple more. Last one was at 1:40 am and I decided if I had one more within 20 mins I was calling. But I didn't then I fell asleep. I'm not having any this morning.

Sorry for my long vent but my actual question is, did/does this happen to any of you? At what point do you worry about them?

I have no idea how that weird face got in my post. It's supposed to say 8Pm.

Ahhhh it's still doing it. It's supposed to say eight o'clock.

This actually happened to me last weekend. It was Sunday night going into Monday morning. I called the doctor's office monday morning and said i wanted to be seen because of the contractions. I said I thought it was probably nothing but I would feel better coming in to see the Dr. I had an appointment at 1:15 at 2:00 I was admitted to labor and delivery with PTL I stayed three days while they got everything under control. I was actually having contractions every 2-3 minutes and I didn't even know it. I was only feeling some of them. I am now on bedrest at home and doing great. No more dialating since last week. I have just been taking it easy. I'm saying this just to let you know it's ok to go in for peace of mind. I really didn't think anything would come from going in except maybe a talk about the difference between bh and real contractions. I am really glad I did though. I now know it was a sign to stop work and just grow these babies. I hope this helped. I know it is frustrating, Good Luck!

This happens to me too. Just when I think I should call they slow down or go away. My guess is they are BH and they are just exercising the uterus and stretching the belly. My cervix has never changed from any of the contractions so I have been lucky. It is hard to deal with, but it is part of the process, my OB said it happens more with twins. If you ever feel that it might be more, do not be afraid to call, it is better to be safe than sorry. Good luck.

Ahhhh I called the doctor and left a message 2 hours ago. Now it's lunch time. I'm having them again this morning, about every 20 mins or so even though I am laying in bed on my side and have done nothing but take a shower all day. Frustrating. I can feel them in my back and my uterus actually feels sore and tired of contracting. Sigh.... Plus when they happen I can feel my heart beat in my head. That's probably the high BP stuff. Crap crap crap. I don't want to be hospitalized.

I would call again, that sounds like it should be looked at. Think positive, it still could be BH, I feel sore after sometimes too especially if it has been going on for a little while. I would definitely call again though and be seen. The heart beat stuff is probably your BP because you are getting nervous. Try to stay calm and just time the contractions. Keep us updated, I hope all is well.

I know it's hard, but try to stay calm. For me, stress really brings on the contractions! GL and keep us posted! :hug99:

I'm back from the doctor. All is well. My cervix is still long, 3.7 cm, and there was no funneling. Babies looked good. I was still contracting every 15-20 mins while I was there. My BP was lower, 131/76, so that was good news. Urine was fine. So he wants me to continue to take it easy, watch the contractions and call if there are any changes. If they are still troublesome tomorrow, he wants me to come back in for the fetal fibronectin swab test. If not, we'll do it at my regular appt. on Friday.

I am very relieved to see no big cervical change after all this activity. I wish I'd stop contracting because that is very uncomfortable. Oh well. Eyes on the prize right?
