I am pondering, since I am less 100 days away from the boys' arrival. I been told by my MIL that I should join a local twin club or MOM so I can get some support and advise on having and raise twins? What are some of your experiences? Is it worth it?[IMG]

i would say that if your local club has annual sales, it's definitely worth it! ours has an annual spring & fall sale & i've saved so much money on clothes & toys - and the great thing is that so many things come in pairs because they're being sold by other parents of multiples.

my club also lends out nursing pillows & bumbos (as well as special needs equipment, strollers, etc). so i've saved money there. they also have a BFing support group that i've found helpful.

i've only recently started attending the play groups (it felt like too much work before) but now that the girls are older and can actually go & play while i chat with the other moms, i'm finding i'm really enjoying them. it's always nice to compare "war" stories with other moms of twins. ;)

i would definitely look into your local club & find out what they offer. my club has membership info nights where expecting or new parents of twins can go & ask questions & find out what it's all about. if your local club has something like that, maybe you could find out more about whether the club would be specifically helpful to you or not. GL!

I didn't join my local multiples club until after the twins were born, but I would highly suggest it. :good: I love my group and have made some great friends from it. I think we are very supportive to new and pregnant members. I wish I would have found my group and joined while I was pregnant.

Like PP we have a huge sale 2 times a year once in the spring (just had it the beg. of April) and then again in the fall. There is tons of stuff there to get. We offer a MNO out each month (so nice) and playgroups and other activities as well. I love out playgroup, we have been together for 3 years now and it's just as much for me as it is for my twins.

Maybe I should come join your group! I miss my Tampa group. You're not that far from me, like what, 20-30 minutes?

As for the question, go! Even if you don't learn anything, you'll be around a bunch of ladies that are in the same boat as you, plus usually the first few months are free, if you like it, sign up and pay for the membership.

I've seen quite a few twins Clubs, and there is a range. Mine is very organized, great sales, info, etc. But not very warm and fuzzy. A friend in Boston had a great experience - she was visiting with her twins because one was getting treatment at Mass General. The Boston Twin club brought her meals every week. Boston rocks!

So, not all are awesome, but I'd say they are definitely worth it!

I absolutely LOVE the twins group I belong too. I have met fabulous friends through it, attended their biannual sales, attended outings and meetings, have bought/sold many items, and have greatly appreciated the support!! Our local chapter is HUGE, about 500+ members.

If you go to NOMOTC.org (National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs, Inc.) or click here and you can search to see if there is a club nearest to you that belong to this organization. :good:

Love our twins club, too!!! Ours is rather small, but membership has its ups and downs like any other organization. We are a member of the Massachusetts Mothers of Twins Association (like MichelleL!!) and the National Mothers of Twins Club. I have made some fabulous friends and learned a lot from moms of older kiddos. I say it's definitely worth it to look into it. Wish I had found it when I was pg with the boys.

It's really nice to make friends with some other twin moms. Your friends with singletons will say "I don't know how you do it" Whereas another twin mom will be right there with you!

I'd give it a try, more often than not you can attend a couple meetings before decided to join.

My old club was great, and although I wasn't very active, there were events (christmas party, easter egg hunt etc), and a really nice sale twice a year - it was worth it if just for the sale (plus they gave you 50% off a BJ's membership). Now I've moved, joined the club almost a year ago, and I have no plan to renew my membership... not enough volunteers, not many people showing up at the meetings, not many events with some canceled because of lack of interest, playgroups way too late for me (11am for toddlers), and the sales are awful and don't seem to generate enough interest to justify paying for a table (plus 90% of what was sold at the last one was baby stuff).

So it really depends on the club! Either way though I would definitely look around for clubs sales, you can find so much stuff for infants.

I think it's a great idea, I'm only 13 weeks and have already found the club in my area. I can't wait to meet up with other twin mom's plus it will get me out of the house..LOL!!
