I just got an email for Yo Gabba Gabba Live in December. The boys will be a few months shy of 2 1/2 at that point.

I'm not sure how long the show will last, but my boys don't sit long normally.

Do you think they're too young to go? If the seats are more balcony type seats, is it worth with? Tickets are around $25/ticket, so it'll cost around $100 for us to go.

What do you think? What's a good age?

My girls just went to their first live show on Sunday and they did great. I saw many kids there much smaller than mine, but with money tight for us my view is if I'm going to pay that kind of money I want them to watch it. Most live shows last at least an hour to 1 1/2 hours...the one we went to lasted almost two hours with an intermission. If there is any doubt that they may not last for at least an hour, I would opt for something a little cheaper. Constantly crawling over people to go to the bathroom or wrestling with two 2 year olds for that long isn't fun when you pay that kind of money. Also, with balcony seating I would worry about how well they will be able to see and how that will affect their attention. Our seating was fairly close to the ice and we could see really good.

Depends on the kid, and the show! We took Nadia to the Wiggles when she was around 22 months, and she did great. Same with Dora Live when she was younger than 2.5...and then she also did really well with the Lion King (the broadway show, but she was obsessed with Lion King at the time), and also the Diego Live show, which is a lot of fun.

But Kevan & Karina? No way in hell I'd attempt a live show anytime soon, LOL. We haven't even done a movie in a theatre yet. They'd never sit!

We took L&M to see the Wiggles when they were right at 2 and they did great. Granted they  the Wiggles. I was worried because Lauren is scared of loud noises and thought it would be too much, but she loved it. We are going to see Imagination Movers next week, I hope it goes as well.

The boys did well at the short little live shows at Disney World when they were two, and I think as long as it's something that interests them they'd be just fine. I don't know that I'd chance a movie in a theater, but mainly because there aren't any Mickey Mouse, Big Bird or Winnie the Pooh movies out right now! I just found out that Sesame Street live is coming next month and I think we'll take the boys and I'm not too worried, in fact, I think they'll LOVE it! :) (shoot, I'M excited to see all of the Sesame Street friends in real life!)

We took our oldest DD to Sesame Stree Live at 2 years old. She did great. We took Emilie and Trevor to the Wiggles at 2.5 years old and they loved it. I think it depends on the show and the kid.

 Hehehe.....my same exact thoughts with my two. At least, with a movie theatre. They might like a live show, but I seriously doubt my DS would sit still for like long. DD might, but I don't think I am willing to try it just yet.

Is there some sort of free show you can do a test run with first?
We get a lot of concert-in-the-park type things around here, those are good shows to try because it's easy to wander off if the kids get antsy.

We tried a movie over the summer and left after 15 minutes. We went to Wiggles at a little over 2 1/2 and they did great. We were in the back but it was well paced and they sat through the whole show (1 1/2 hours?). You might be surprised! They don't interact as far as dancing or singing, but they watched the show and still talk about it.

We took the boys to see SS Live around 22 months or so. It was not a pleasant experience. Jackson was trying to climb the walls the entire time. Jacob sat still for about 20 minutes, then he got antsy. I left the theatre with Jackson within the first 5 minutes because he was really freaking out - too much stimulation for him. So, we went home after the first half (30 minutes or so). We took them to Sea World recently and they did well sitting through the 15-20 minute 4-D Elmo Movie (much to my delight and surprise!!), so I'd be more inclined to take them to a movie than I would a live show anytime soon. I hope it goes well for you if you go, but I agree that it's strongly dependent on the child more than the age.

I decided to pass on the Wiggles this year and my girls were 3.5. It was going to be about $100 for us to go, and I was afraid they'd be overwhelmed by the noise and hubbub. They are pretty sensitive kids. They love the Wiggles on DVD, but I decided they'd never know what they were missing, and I'd rather spend that $100 on trips to the zoo or other things that are more fun for adults too.

I took A&R to see Dora live for their 2nd birthday. It was just me and the two of them (I brought my 8 year old niece, but TBH, she wasn't much help), and oh my word, they had such a good time and I even enjoyed myself. It was only 40 minutes per act with a 15-20 minute intermission. Less than 2 hours total.

I did not bring a stroller, just used the leashes on them. And we had first row top balcony seats (which scared the bejeebus outta me).

We took Jake and Hailey to see Sesame Street live 2 days after their 2nd birthday. They did great. We took the grandparents with us for backup, and the kids very happily sat with their Grandma and Opa the entire time. We were in the balcony ... and there was a wide open area where the boxed seats are. A lot of kids were running around and what not ... so it wasn't like going to a show where everyone was quiet and sitting down and still. Lots of kids were moving, dancing, running around. Mine did a little bit, but mostly they just sat and were enthralled with Elmo and the crew.

When we went to Hershey Park a few weeks back, we took the kids to see this 15 minute 3-D chocolate show. Jake was great, he even wore the 3-D glasses. Hailey couldn't even sit still for 15 minutes. So, no movie for them anytime soon.

Our two little cookies were just over two when we took them to Sesame Street live. They did great for the first 30 minutes. DS was ready to leave after intermission. He couldn't sit still and then he started being naughty so DH had to take him out for that last 10 minutes or so. We got free tickets so I thought it was a great chance for a test run for something like that.

I would find out how long the show is and if there is an intermission so they can get up an move around, but keep in mind you might not be able to get them to settle in their seats after that.

If you have $100 to spend you should do it but be mentally prepared not to stay just in case thay start to loose it. Bring snacks and beverages if you can since the ones you'll find at the show will be obnoxiously over priced.

    Best of luck!

We have tickets for a live show this week (The Backyardigans) and I'm not sure at all how the boys will make out. For us the loss will only be an afternoon as the tickets were free through DH's work. We just turned 2 and they have only seen the Backyardigans on tv at their previous sitter. I sense a disaster about to happen - but then again they might surprise me.
