Lucy gets what looks like a little heat rash on her lower head/upper neck sometimes. Does anyone know what this is? I meant to ask the pedi last week but of course I forgot.

    Is she a puker?
My Maia has bad reflux and still spits a couple times a day and even though I am always washing her neck with a warm facecloth she has it too. My pedi said it was from the belly acid. Poor little thing.

We have the same thing from me constantly wiping the puke. Even when a wet bib sits on them and I try to change them alot. I've just started trying lotion, maybe I'll put some a&d or moisture barrier there. It's worse on my bigger baby (she has a ton of chins) you have to lift them all up to clean her neck. I don't want to make them sore from all the wiping but I don't know what else to do. I put a spitty diaper under their necks when I feed them and burp them but as soon as I move it they seem to puke. We go to the pediatrician today. I'll let you know what she says.

Have you tried Aquaphor? That was great for dd's neck. I rubbed it on after cleaning out her folds (she hated the cleaning, seemed to like the Aquaphor).

With mine, they were big droolers (the whole teething thing) around 4-7 months. They would get these little bumps under their chin and doc said it was from the moisture and fungus. We used fungicide (generic Lotrimin...for althetes foot) until the rash was gone which took about 4-5 days, used bibs and changed them frequently, tried to keep the area as dry as possible, and once the bumps were gone, used diaper rash cream on their necks as a barrier treatment. Worked great and never did have the problem again.

I'm a ding-dong. I failed to clarify that it's on the BACK of her head/upper neck. Duh.

Anyone else have this? Thanks for the replies so far, though!

Is it like a rough patch of skin (kind of sandpaperish)...could be eczema? One of mine has eczema on the back of his thighs (can't remember the name of the stuff I use but it's got winnie the pooh and it's an eczema cream). My niece has a patch of skin like that on the back of neck and it's eczema...my SIL uses A&D ointment. You can also try a 1% cortizone cream if it's eczema.

No, it's not rough. Actually, you can't even feel it, you can just see it. Just little blotches of red that come and go. It's right where the hair line is at the back and bottom of the head.

Well ours are actual bumps under their chin and on top of chest and the pedi said it was from the spitting and to not really put anything on it eventually it will clear up. On the other hand Morgan has that mark on the back of her head in the bottom of her hair line. I figured it was stork bites birthmark type marks. Sometimes it is more noticeable than other times but always there maybe thats what your daughter has. Little blotchy spots.

Thank you! I looked this up and I think that's what it is. I had never even heard of stork bites. It gets darker when she's been crying.

    Mystery solved.

my bear gets them too, behind the ears, i don't know why they're there, but when they come up i just put extra lotion on them so i at least feel like i'm doing something, but they go away on their own....i figure it's like an allergy that comes and goes due to environmental exposures, since his diet doesn't vary....
