The past several months my DD has been showing signs of the terrible twos. She gets temper tantrums all the time now. The other day, she was trying to flip over her inflatable ball pit and it kept getting stuck so instead of trying again she had a full on scream fit and started kicking it.

then she always wants to sit in my recliner, on one particular night I didn't want her to. When I took her off it, she had another full on temper tantrum - kicking the floor, banging her head, throwing whatever was in her way. This went on for 30 min before she finally calmed down. All the while her brother is on the other side of room with his hands over his ears which I don't blame him LOL :D

Otherwise, she extremely adorable and sweet and we have a very good mother/daughter bond. I just thought it was the terrible twos kicking in...wrong!

One day after I got out of the shower, in a good mood. I go to my closet to get my robe off the hanger, but it was tangled up with my SO's shirt. because it wasn't coming off the hanger easily for me, I got irritated and pulled it so hard, the hanging shelf came loose. I then realized my daughters instant random tantrums are not terrible twos, but a gene that she's inhereted from me. The snap case gene :D

My mom has this too but I never paid attention, I just thought she was hormonal. What monster have I created?!!!!

I'm just venting. Have you passed any of your traits onto your kids that you didn't want passed on?

I tend to let out a loud sigh when I am frustrated with the kids (or anything else). If I don't want to do something...etc. DD picked up on it. I've tried not to do it, and I haven't seen her do it for awhile. It's amazing what they pick up on!

ah... yep! I have my own fits I seem to get into. I've been trying to get the kids to quit throwing down things... I mean its ok when its a plastic something, but when they are holding your camera... and they go to throw it down, that's not good. then I realized as I am carrying them somewhere or something I find myself throwing down whatever they have had in their hands if its causing a problem... of course what I decide to throw down isn't going to break.... anyway, I totally think they pick up on what we do and say!

good luck trying to model terrific two behavior!

Yes, they pick on things and inherit things.  My dd has inherited my temper tantrums and she's never even seen me have one!

My daughter gives me major attitude...just like I used to do with my mom when I was a teenager! Which makes me wonder what kind of hell I'm in for by the time the teen years roll around!!!

I swear my one son is a male version of me. :gah: I started using 1-2-3 Magic and it seems to be helping with his tantrums. I usually get to 2 and he'll stop, but not without a lot of fussing. And if I get to 3 and he has to sit in the corner...watch out.

Maybe he would behave better if I had to go to time-outs when I'm having issues. :grr: Actually, I will do that during the day if I find myself losing it with them.

Oh yeah, both of my kids have watered down versions of my temper. And everything that I complain about that they do (fighting sleep, not listening) my mother smiles and I said, "I knew a child who did the same thing." Me. I think she wished some of this difficult behavior on me
