For ladies that had a c-section, how long did you wait to lift both babies in their carseats? I'm really afraid to even attempt it. I delivered my girls 3 1/2 weeks ago. I think waiting 6 weeks is probably the norm, but maybe I'm being overly cautious?

My OB said it was okay to lift more than 20 lbs after 6 week check up.

I didn't have a C-section but lifting babies in their car seats is pretty heavy, I think you are supposed to wait 6 - 8 weeks for heavy lifting. You could always give your OB a call and check to see.

I waited 6-8 weeks - can't rememebr exactly now. I did have a hard time healing - had staples in for an extra week.

Probably about a month after they were born. I know I didnt wait 6 weeks. I also had a toddler at home and once I felt like lifting her, I did.

I know I didn't wait 6 weeks, maybe 3. I think you should do it when you feel comfortable.

I waited about 6 weeks to lift carseat + baby. I definitely wasn't ready to lift more than one of my daughters at a time within the first few weeks - it was hard enough to move myself around! Take it easy and have someone help you.

I was wondering this myself.. I had pretty much resolved myself that it was probably going to be 6 weeks, but I was glad to read this post to pretty much comfirm it.

I have lifted both babies but not often, and i couldn't imagine doing both babies in the carseats quite yet.. although it will make like sooo much easier when i can..

Thank you for your responses ladies. I'm gonna be so afraid of opening my incision or something crazy like that the first time I lift both in their car seats, but I'm gonna have to do it eventually. I'll probably wind up waiting until after 6 weeks to try it.

A friend of mine had a c-section and had some healing complications and it was near 2 months before she was able to lift anything more than 15 lbs. My sister has had 3 c-sections and each time she was lifting within 4 weeks. Everyone is different, so go by what feels right to you and what your dr recommends.

I haven't had a c-section but wanted to say congratulations on the birth of your twins!

I remember lifting and carrying my 35 lb almost 3 year old DS at my 4 week dr apt. The nurse made a comment that I must have healed really well. I have a feeling that I was lifting the carseats for the girls probably at about 2 weeks when I could drive again.

oh wow, you're one tough cookie! I'm guessing the babies + carseats is probably somewhere around 30 pounds or so.
I'm actually waiting for my OBGYN to call me back cause the stupid front desk girl claims they don't do 6 week check ups in the evening. They gave me an afternoon appointment. That sounds ridiculous to me. I need to wait for my DH to get home from work so I don't have to lift both of them before the doctor checks me out and oks lifting. I need a new doctor if they can't be a little flexible.
